Hazardous Chemicals Instructions

Benzene

Handling
1. Chemical safety goggles and protective clothing must be worn at all times
when working with benzene
2. This must remain enclosed from the work area and proper equipment must be
used to ensure proper containment (OSH)
3. Return to safe storage area once finished with the product

Warning
1. Keep away from any source of ignition as benzene is flammable (OSH)
2. Skin, eye, and inhalation irritant so all body contact must be avoided and if
spilled, mask must be worn (OSH)

Toluene

Handling
1. Proper eye and clothing protection must be worn when handling Toluene
2. Hands must be washed immediately after handling this product
3. Do not pressurize or expose to any ignition sources (Working)

Warning
1. Highly flammable at normal temperatures
2. Inhalation can cause serious damage to the respiratory system (Working)

Trichloroethylene

Handling
1. Only those trained to specifically handle this product are allowed to use it
2. Use in well ventilated areas, avoiding any spark or ignitions, and ground any
metal containers that may be in use with this product (Hazardous)
Warning
1. Treat this product as a carcinogen and all exposure must be kept to the
lowest possible
2. Will irritate skin and eyes if contact is made (Hazardous)

Formaldehyde

Handling
1. Only employees that have been properly trained may handle this chemical
2. Keep away from heat and flame and in a well ventilated area while being used
(Guidelines)

Warning
1. Always wear eye, body, and respiratory protection when using this chemical
2. Long term exposure can effect lungs and any extended exposure should be
avoided (Guidelines)

Ammonia

Handling
1. Wear protective goggles, gloves, and clothing when there is any risk of a spill
that could contact the body
2. Keep away from sources of heat as when mixed with the air can be ignited by
a small spark (Ammonia)

Warning
1. Contact with the skin will cause irritation and should be thoroughly washed if
contact is made
2. Extended exposure to breathing concentrated samples of this chemical causes
irritation to respiratory systems and should be avoided completely (Ammonia)
