LESSON PLAN

MATHEMATICS 7

CONTENT STANDARD:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of
Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute accurately
measures of central tendency and variability and apply these appropriately in data
analysis and interpretation in different fields.

I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson the students must be able to:
a. Identify different types of graph.
b. Uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data: pie chart, bar graph,
line graph, histogram, and pictograph.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Organizing and Presenting Data

c. Materials: Visual aids

III. PROCEDURE
A. Daily routine
Opening prayer
Checking of attendance

B. Activity
Directions:
1. Group the students into 5 groups.
2. Each group will assemble the puzzle within the time allotted given by
the teacher and post it on the board.
3. Let the students identify the kind of graph they have assembled.
4. Let each group describe the chart/graph.
C. Analysis
Based from the above activity, ask the students the following questions:
1. What information can we get from each of the charts or graphs?
2. What do you think are some uses of each of the charts or graphs?

(Discuss each chart or graphs)

D. Abstraction
Let the students answer the following questions:
1. What are some of the different ways of presenting data?
The different ways are a table, bar graph, and frequency table and histogram.
2. Describe the information that can be obtained from a data presented using
Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Line Graph, and Histogram.
a. Bar Graph – represents counts for several categories
b. Pie Chart – shows how a part relates to a whole
c. Line Graph – represents data over a period of time
d. Histogram – represents counts of data that fall within intervals
e. Pictograph – represents data using pictures

E. Application
Group activity. Each group will draw a worksheet that they will answer.

IV. EVALUATION
Directions:
Organize and present the following data using an appropriate chart or graph.

Mrs. Bernardo tallied the Second Quarter Math grades of all 200
Grade 7 students in Lara’s school as follows:
96 – 100 23 students
90 – 95 45 students
86 – 89 55 students
81 – 85 30 students
78 – 80 26 students
75 – 77 10 students
70 – 75 11 students

V. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
Define what is MEAN, MEDIAN and MODE.
