Activity 3: Conditionals
Interaction: Whole class
Aim: To practice the “zero” and “first” conditional
Skill: Speaking, listening and reading
Grammar: The “zero” and “first” conditional
Preparation: Copy and cut up one conditional sentence for every
two students. There are twelve sentences on the worksheet
Time: 10-15 minutes

1 Divide the students into two groups, A and B.

• If there is an odd number of students in the class, give one card
to two weaker students and ask them to work together.

Options
• If you want to extend the activity, give each pair a few
minutes to think of an alternative ending for their
sentence. Ask pairs to say their new sentence.
