I. Research Methodolgy

This section aspires to thoroughly discuss the research methods and processes

applied to formulate and accomplish this part of the study by: (1) determining the

instruments for data collection and tools to gather relevant data about juvenile

delinquency and (2) the research process which composes of the the procedures the

group went through for the accomplishment of this chapter.

II. Data Collection and Method Tools

Juvenile delinquency is a pressing issue in the community of Poblacion, Batangas, so

for the researchers to gather relevant information about the problem in the community,

they have agreed to gather both qualitative and quantitative data. This would help provide

specific information. Specifically, the researchers formulated interview questions that will

be inquired to the head of the community to gather qualitative data that will determine the

respondent’s thoughts and opinions which could help in assessing the authority’s opinion.

The duration of the interview would be recorded which would be analyzed by each

researcher to come up with a common viewpoint regarding the community’s problem.

Besides a comprehensive interview with the head of the community, the researchers

have formulated a survey questionnaire to gather information from random respondents.

These survey questionnaires will be distributed to 70 sample population out of 16,778

who live in the assigned community with the help of barangay officials, whom the group
would ask for assistance. Anyone from the age of thirteen and above of any gender would

be the one to receive the questionnaires because the group believes that around the

mentioned age, they would be responsible enough to respond appropriately. The survey

questionnaire would aid the researchers by providing the primary quantitative data and

giving them the idea of how aware the residents are about juvenile delinquency in their

community and their willingness to help address the problem. Responses from the survey

questionnaires would be recorded by one member of the group and another member

would present the data gathered through a chart. Major findings of both data collection

tools will be discussed more elaborately in the next chapter.

III. Research Process

The researchers have undergone multiple processes every CAPSTONE Wednesday

and other opportunities they have to achieve the accomplishment of this methodology.

Before starting with the actual research methodology, the group recalled the problem and

their target in the CAPSTONE introduction. Initially, the group had to concur on the matter

regarding which tools and materials, and which part of the population will be participating

in the survey. Then, the group decided to devise survey questions intended to be

answered by a common resident and interview questions which are supposed to be

answered by the community head. Upon an intensive deliberation, the group finally came

up with the idea to whom will be the administer an interview with the head of the

community and conduct a survey to 70 residents of Poblacion who is at least 13 years

old.
The next meeting allotted for the composition of the research methodology was all

about the formulation of the survey and interview questions which will be revised and

possibly be utilized in the final output. The leader of the group tasked each member to

come up with at least 5 surveys and interview questions so that the possibility of coming

up with the same basic questions would be reduced. After all the members have done

their part, the leader went on to select and revise the best questions formed by the

members.

The final day was for the accomplishment and submission of the final output. Last

minute revisions were made during this day when the members agreed to proofread the

final output. They were able
