Learners: Grade 3

Objectives: At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

1. define nouns

2. identify the types of nouns

3. use nouns in constructing simple sentences

Springboard Activity:

As I start the class, I will show them several pictures. I will ask them what are the pictures shown
in the class. In this way, I am starting to submerge them to what noun is.

Lesson Proper:

Noun- words that name a person, place, animal, thing or event.

Types of nouns

Common nouns- names any type of noun.

Ex: ice cream

Proper nouns- names a specific person, place or thing.

Ex: Peach mango pie

Abstract nouns- nouns that you cannot see, hear, feel, touch, smell or taste.

Ex: Love, Peace, Happiness

Concrete nouns- nouns that you can see, hear, feel, touch, smell or taste.

Ex: Teddy bear

Mass nouns- nouns that we cannot count. They have no plural form.

Ex: Sand, Hair, Milk, Rice, Powder


Count nouns- nouns that we can count. They can be singular or plural.

Ex: one marble, three blind mice, two pieces of bread, four girls
