Clinical Legal Education Organisation Logo Competition 2019

Design the Clinical Legal Education Origanisation logo, win £150,

raise your profile / experience and receive a certificate of recognition.

The Brief

For almost 20 years, the Clinical Legal Education Organisation (CLEO) has been providing
encouragement, expertise and support to develop clinical legal education in UK law schools.
This has been done primarily through workshops, one-off events, and the sharing of
individuals’ experiences. As a charity CLEO encourages legal clinicians to share their
experiences and best practices and has facilitated the emergence of new clinical legal
education initiatives and well as assisting in collaboration within the current network of
clinics.

We have a collaborative and welcoming ethos and we are keen to have a logo that reflects
this. Competition entries will therefore be judged on the following criteria:

Originality/creativity/ appeal Is the entry a new idea? Would the design appeal
to CLEO members?

Theme match We are a UK based charity who welcomes

members from a variety of locations and
backgrounds. We encourage collaboration and
sharing. Does the logo reflect these themes?
Does the logo reflect the ethos portrayed on our
website?

Memorability and The logo should stand out amongst others and
Appropriateness should be easily identifiable with CLEO.

Simplicity The design should not be graphically intense

making it difficult to be reproduced in a cost
effective manner. It should not rely heavily on
embellishments. Though simple, it must be bold
enough so that it can be scaled up or down without
losing detail. Use clean sharp lines and curves.

Colour The logo should not rely on more than three (3)
colours. It should also look good if reproduced in a
single colour. The colours should work with the
current CLEO website; http://www.cleo-uk.org.
Adaptable The design should be submitted in electronic
format. It should be suitable for use in both
hardcopy and electronic form and so should
translate well on screen and on paper.

Moto The logo should reflect the four aims of CLEO.

1. To help address unmet legal need and

improvement of access to justice generally.
2. To provide legal clinicians with advice,
support and guidance on the development
of clinical legal education.
3. To provide and promote a wide range of
best practice guidance on clinical legal
education issues.
4. To promote collaboration between
universities (collectively and individually)
and third sector and public sector
organisations to identify legal needs and
provide clinical legal education and pro
bono services to address these needs.
