The main objective of this summer training is to learn the practical aspects of works which
we study. I am very grateful to DLW, who have given me this opportunity to learn here.
Every year, DLW provides training to thousands of student who are doing B. Tech/Diploma.
This training thus becomes very important as, it provides Industrial exposure to students.
Students learn how to work, how to tackle problems that they face during working. Latest
technologies, Upgraded machines, Better practical knowledge, better understanding and
much more things that a student get to see and learn.
Here I got an opportunity to do training in DLW.I have learn many things which I was unable
to learn at college level. Some of which, I have tried to incorporate in this report.
DLW is a locomotive manufacturing plant established in August 1961.In DLW various types
of locomotives and their parts are manufactured. These locomotives are used by Indian
Railway as well as exported to different countries. This manufacturing plant is divided into
many departments of which workshop unit is directly responsible for all production. This
workshop is also divided in many shops for proper working. Students get a chance to watch
the working of different shop and understand different engineering concepts. Some of which
have been tried to incorporate in this report.
