January 7 is Benny’s birthday. He will be eight years old. He is in the third grade.
He goes to Park Elementary School. Benny’s school is not very far from his home. It is
only one mile away. It only takes 20 minutes. So, he walks to and from school with a
group of boys. But Benny usually says that he is tired. All Benny’s teachers like him
because he is smart and polite. His parents love him so much and usually help him with
his difficult homework. When it rains, he wears a raincoat and takes an umbrella. He
doesn’t like to be absent from school. For his eighth birthday, Benny wants a bicycle.
He can ride the bike to school. After school he can ride with his friends. He can ride the
bike to the library. His dad is very understanding. He promised Benny to buy him a new
one. So, he and his mother took him to a bike store. They asked him to look at the bikes
and choose the best one. Benny stared at all the bikes with amazement. They were new
and lovely. Finally, he looked at a red bike and said: “I like that one”. He showed his
parents. Dad said it cost too much. He told Benny to choose another bike. Benny chose
a blue bike. Dad said the blue bike was the right price
