So let us pray (the teacher will lead the prayer)

Routine

III-PROCEDURE

Teacher’s activity Student’s activity

a. Recall
- class what have you learned from our previous lesson? -comparing big and small
-what is big and small? -big means ‘dako’ and small means ‘gamay’
-alright very good so this time I’m gonna tell you another
story about two seeds having a big dreams while the
other is contented with simple or smaller dreams and this -yes sir!
dreams lead them into a situation that you are going to
find out. So please I want you to listen very carefully okay?

b. Motivation
(The teacher will tell a story about the two seeds)

The two seeds

Two seeds lay side by side in the fertile soil.

The first seed said, “I want to grow! I want to seed my
roots deep into the soil beneath me,

And thrust my sprout through the earth’s crust above me..

I want to unfurl my tender buds like banners to announce
the arrival of the spring
I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the
blessing dew on my petals
And so she grew..
The second seed said, “hmmmm. If I send my roots into
the ground below,
I don’t know what I will encounter in the dark
If I push my way through the hard soil above me, imay
damage my delicate sprouts
What if I let my buds open and snail tries to eat them? And
if I were to open my blossoms? A small child may pull me
from the ground. No, it is much better to wait until is safe
And so she waited
A yard hen, scratching around in the early spring ground
for food found the waiting seed and promptly eat it
I V-LESSON PROPER

-what happened to the first seed? -he was eaten by the hen
- why? -because he dreams too much about himself and he
can’t wait about growing up soon
-what about the other one? -he was not eaten
- because he waited to grow until it is safe
-very well, so we can tell from the story that what
happened to them are caused by their actions or decisions
The seed decided to come out very soon so the effect is
that he was eaten by the chicken. While the other one was
not so the effect is that he was not eaten
Now, what do you mean by cause and effect? -the cause is why something happened and effect is
what happened.
-very well said, so let’s have another examples of cause
and effect to further understand the topic.

-what did you observe in the picture?

-so what did he do since he is hungry? -a boy is hungry.
-very good, the cause or why something happened is the -he eat a sandwich!
first action or situation that took place that’s it the cause,
what happened or the response from the first action is the
effect. first action here is that Enesto is hungry that is the
cause while his response was to eat a sandwhich and that
is the? - Effect!
-as you have observed from the examples what do you -since, because, so etc.
think are the clue words that tell there is cause and effect
relationship?
-very good (the teacher will post another illustrations on
the board)

-okay so to easily identify that there is a relationship or -so, because, once so that if, reason
cause and effect relationship between two things or
situation we can look for the clue words, those clue words
are what?
-okay so for example Tina did not attend the exam -because!
because she came late. So where is the signal word here? -she came late!
-very well, which is the cause ? -did not attend the exam
-great! Which is the effect?
-very good, so she came late is the “why happens” while -yes sir!
the did not attend the exam is the “what” happened. So
do you understand now what is cause and effect
realationship?
Very well, so let’s try this activity if you really understand
the lesson.

V-ASSESSMENT
in this activity, u can use the different signal words to
match the cause and effect. just encircle the letter of
choices that match the effect.

-okay so group yourselves into four. Each group will have a

picture and tell correct cause of its effect.
-okay group one your picture has an effect that says ate a -A! I was hungry!
hamburger which do you think is the cause? It a or b?
-spectacular! Group two what is your answer for the effect -I went to the movie letter B!
that says I bought a ticket?
-wow, very nice what about picture number 3? What is the -it was stormy, B!
answer for the effect it was lightening?
-nice job, and lastly, group four what is your answer for -it was raining! Letter B!
the effect I used an umbrella?
-very good! Now that your done with your group activity I
want you to answer the next activity individually. The
procedure is the same from the group activity

Picture 1- A

Picture 2- B

Picture 3-B

Picture 4-A
VI- AGGREEMENT
-for your assignment, you are going to draw a line to
match each cause with it effect.
-if you have questions for this you can raise your hand.

-no sir!
