Additional information
The two stations run in parallel (both are connected to the process). In the event of a fault
in one of the two WinCC stations, the other takes over the archiving of messages,
and the process/user data (recipe). Automatic synchronization of all archives
after restoration of the normal operating state.

RT- and RC-licenses

WinCC differentiates between RT licenses (Runtime) and RC licenses (Runtime and Configuration) as well as the
number of tags.
• RT licenses permit the operation of WinCC in Runtime for an unlimited period of time.
The editors may only be used in demo mode for a limited period of time.
• RC licenses permit the operation of WinCC in Runtime for an unlimited period of time and during configuration.
You can use RC licenses locally or remotely. If an RC license is located on another computer, it can only be used for the
configuration. If you want to use Runtime, the RC license must be available locally or you need an additional RT license.
• The number of external tags and archive tags permitted for configuration is indicated by the number in brackets, for
example, "WinCC RC (65536)". With this license you can use up to 64*1024 external tags and up to 512 archive tags
in Runtime.
The system goes into demo mode if you activate a project where the number of external tags or archive tags exceeds the
number of permitted tags. In this case the system behaves as if there were no licenses at all.

Calculating memory requirements (Tag Logging)
You need information about how many archive tags are logged per second on average.
FORMULA FOR GENERAL CALCULATION OF THE MEMORY REQUIREMENT:
Memory REQUIREMENT = Number of archive values/s * x bytes * 60 s/min * 60 min/h * 24 h/day

31 days/month * y months
X = bytes across all segments
Y = time period in months
Standard practice is to specify a daily or weekly period per segment. A segment change at a rate faster than
1 day has a negative impact on performance.
EXAMPLE:
You are planning on implementing a period of 2 months. You have calculated a mean rate of 750 archive values/s for TagLogging Fast.
The maximum size for all segment is derived as follows:
ƒ For a memory requirement of 16 bytes per process value: ca. 60 GB

(750 [archive values/s]*16[bytes/value]*60[s/min]*60[min/h]*24[h/day]*30[days/month]*2[months])
