CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY

1.1 BACKGROUND
Currently education in Indonesia uses a 2013 based curriculum that aims to
direct students to be independent, creative and innovative. One of the subjects namely
Indonesian Language uses the 2013 curriculum in its learning. As for one of the
material in the Indonesian language class X odd semester is the Procedure Text. The
text of the procedure is a form of text that contains the steps or stages of the steps
taken to do something so that it can be easily and correctly done. There are a lot of
activities that must follow the procedure so that these activities run smoothly and
without obstacles which will make the activity wrong or fail.

1.2 PROBLEM FORMULATION

1. What is the procedure text?
2. What is included in the text structure of the procedure?
3. What are the language elements of the procedure text?
4. How can a procedure text be said to be complex?
5. What distinguishes between simple procedure texts and complex procedure
texts?
6. How are examples of simple text procedures and complex procedure texts?

1.3 PURPOSE
1. To tell someone about the importance of text procedure texts in life
2. To make it easier for someone to do something based on the procedure text
3. To form the differences between simple procedure texts and complex procedure
texts
4. To add to the reader's insight into the procedure text
5. So that the reader is easier to do something

DISCUSSION

2.1 UNDERSTANDING TEXT PROCEDURE

The text of the procedure is a form of text that contains steps or stages that
must be fulfilled in carrying out an activity so that these activities run smoothly and
without obstacles on a regular basis which can make the activities carried out become
hampered even to failure. There are many activities around us that must be carried out
according to the procedure. If we do not follow the procedure, the expected goals are
not achieved and we can be said to be people who do not know the rules. But these
steps cannot be reversed. The procedure text is also divided into simple procedure
texts and complex procedure texts. A simple text procedure that is text that contains
brief steps and is usually not understood by the reader. While the text of complex
procedures is text that contains steps that are complete and directed so that they can be
easily understood by the reader.

2.2 TEXT STRUCTURE PROCEDURE

A procedure text is arranged in a structure that is:
Ø GOAL
Contains the purpose of writing a procedure text that is made and in the form of the
final result to be achieved from making the procedure text, so that the reader is more
interested and more understanding by reading the text of the procedure.

Ø STEPS
The steps are ways or paths that must be taken or done to achieve a goal of doing
activities based on the text.

Ø CONJUNCTION
Conjunctions or conjunctions are words or phrases that connect two equal units of
language: words with words, phrases with phrases, clauses with clauses, and sentences
with sentences.
Ø INFORMATION TIME
Time information is information that shows when a phenomenon occurs in a sentence
or text.

2.3 ELEMENTS OF TEXT HISTORY PROCEDURE

I. IMPERIATIVE, DECLARATIVE AND INTROGATIVE SENTENCES
1. IMPERATIVE SENTENCE: An imperative sentence is a sentence whose content or
command contains.
Example:
· Get to know the officer
· Understand your mistakes
· Make sure the allegations of violations
2. DECRALATIVE SENTENCE:
Declarative sentences are sentences that serve to provide information to the reader.
Example:

The driver understands his mistakes

The driver refuses or accepts the accusation
Riders ensure allegations of violations
3. INTROGATIVE SENTENCE
Intrrogative sentences are sentences that function to ask for information about
something.
Example:

Do you recognize the clerk?

Do you understand your mistakes?
Who accepts or rejects the accusation?
II. HUMAN PARTICIPATION
Human participants are all humans who participate in an activity
Example:
If the rider commits a violation, of course the party responsible for the ticket

III.VERBA
a. Material verbs: verbs that refer to physical actions (doing, hitting, and passing)
b. Behavioral verbs: verbs that refer to attitudes expressed in verbal expressions (not
invisible mental attitudes), such as accepting, rejecting.

IV. TEMPORAL CONJUNCTIONS

Temporal conjunction is something that refers to the time sequence

Example:

First, use a lab coat.

Second, do an experiment.
Third, conclude the results of the experiment

V. CONJUNCTION IF, IF AND IF

1. Which shows the conditions
Example:
· If tomorrow I do not attend school, then I will join my family to Manado.
· If I have had a good time, surely I will correct my answer.
· If I am chosen to take part in a poetry contest, I will practice hard

Example:
· If I don't have a lot of tasks, then I will choose to attend the meeting
· If today I am not biologically guided, then I will choose to go to Makassar
· If the bookshop is not closed, then I will choose to buy books there.
2.4 REASONS AS A TEXT PROCEDURE IS SAYED COMPLEX

A procedure text can be said to be complex if the text consists of many steps which are
then tiered in the sub-steps in each step and fulfill the procedure text structure so that it
is easily understood by everyone.

2.5 DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TEXT SIMPLE PROCEDURES AND TEXT

COMPLEX PROCEDURES

A simple procedure text is a text procedure that is carried out to carry out an activity
with only a few steps whose order can be changed or even if the stages are not
available.
Text of complex procedures is a text procedure consisting of many steps, each step in
stages in the sub-step and the order of steps is regular and irreversible so that it is
easily understood by the reader.

2.6 TEXT EXAMPLES OF SIMPLE PROCEDURES AND TEXT COMPLEX

5. Then, glass dough is produced.
6. After that, the mixture is formed into a bottle with mold.
7. Next, to strengthen the glass of the bottles, the bottles are reheated, then cooled.
8. Finally, the bottles are ready for use.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU HAVE AGAIN?
In Indonesia there are many motorists. If the rider commits a violation, of
course the authorities will ticket it. Motorized vehicle drivers need to know the
procedure of the lifting. The following are things you should pay attention to when

3.1 CONCLUSION

The text of the procedure is a text that contains steps or steps that must be taken in
carrying out an activity so that the activity is not hampered or until it fails. A
procedure text is structured so that the text can be understood by the reader. The
structure that composes a text procedure is: goals, steps, conjunctions, and information
on time. A procedure text also has characteristics so that it can be easily distinguished
or recognized from other types of text namely human participants, material verbs,
behavioral verbs, temporal conjunctions, conjunctions if, if and if, imperative
sentences, declarative sentences and interrogative sentences. The report text itself is
divided into several types namely Simple Text Procedures and Complex Text
Procedures. The text of a simple procedure is that the text is only composed of a few
steps so that it cannot be understood by the reader. While the text of complex
procedures is text that is composed of many steps and whose composition cannot be
changed so that the reader is easily understood.

3.2 SUGGESTIONS
In making or reading a procedural text, you should make or read the text of a
complex procedure type text procedure. Because the text is a complex procedure, it
clarifies things in order and clearly, so that it can facilitate us in carrying out an
activity.
