Activities include civil engineering planning and analysis, technical writing, design calculations,

specifications and drawings that are related to the development of hydropower and dams
infrastructure projects during early phases of the project life cycle. Tasks may include preliminary
project conceptual planning phase and design phase work, although you may participate in projects
that have matured to a later stage including: construction, testing and start up, operation and
maintenance, modification and upgrade, and decommissioning phases. You will participate in the
evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered structures or planning, designing
heavy civil geotechnical projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

 Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design.

 Basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D and any other relevant design software and
knowledge of calculations performed by the software.
 Good written and verbal communication skills.
 Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
 Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and
critical thought.
 Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior
Engineers / Designers
 Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

 Carry out different surveys/design of the program area

 Supervise the implementation of the project
 Communicate with the community members regularly regarding technical components of
program
 Ensure the implementation of the technical designs and plans
 He/she will work with direct coordination with program Officer/ Engineer
 Monitor construction progress to ensure that procedure, materials and equipment
comply with approved project plan, specifications and samples as per agreed standards
and quality and according to office requirement on project document

I was then involved as a junior civil engineer for 16 MW Singati Hydropower in Dolakha district.
My duties included activities to support the project during its initial phase, such as desk study,
preparing preliminary reports and review of the consultant’s report. I was also responsible for
liaising with the NEA, Ministry of Energy regarding the logistical aspects of the project. During site
visits, I was involved in supervision of construction works such as project infrastructures,
headworks, penstock, hydraulic structures and building documentation. Overseeing the tunneling
work was also part of my responsibility.
