Choosing and designing authentic material is a very different endeavor mainly because they are usually

linked to text books. Good teachers have to have the initiative to create and develop their original
material and in doing so aim to create true communicative resources.

The advantages of having these materials are clear

 These materials can offer the learners a situation they can encounter in the future in any of the
language skills required.
 They can be personalized to each class.
 They can be develop under any category or type of material.
 Researching material can lead to developing new one.
 Integration into lesson planning is easily justified.

Authentic resources can also be something that can vary from class to class depending on the level of
the courses goals this can create disadvantages as well.

 Too many options of situations and exemptions to them.

 Personalization can be time consuming.
 Development requires research.
 Designing material requires proper training.
