Name of work: ‐ Construction of Pre –Engineered G+2 Storied Building (Package‐1) For
Indira Gandhi National Open University
Tenderers are requested to go through & read carefully each page of tender document for the above
noted work wherein complete details are furnished under various sections.
Note for guidance of tenders while quoting of financial Bid:
1. The tenderers should visit the site of work and acquaint themselves with site conditions,
approach roads, availability of materials, lead of materials etc.
2. The tenderer shall note that the work includes the removal of all encroachments, if any.
3. Tenderer will please note that it will be their responsibility to obtain necessary permission
from local bodies, corporation or any other concerned authority, for using colony roads, for
transporting of plants and machinery, building material etc. including the construction and
preparation of temporary approach road for which no extra payment will be made.
4. Tenderer shall visit the site and locate the source of materials etc. Bar chart, pert chart
indicating the deployment of plant and machinery for various activities for timely
completion of works shall be attached with the tender document.
5. Contractor shall obtain necessary clearance for his staff / agents form RITES Engineer in
charge / IGNOU.
6. It will be the duty and responsibility of the contractor’s engineer to fix the base line,
reference line, layout for various structures, temporary bench mark etc. at his own cost.
7. These levels and reference lines shall match with the ground levels, base lines indicated /
recorder by the other contractor or agencies involved at the site of work.
8. The tenderers will please note that they have to make their own arrangement for water
supply and electricity for which no extra payment will be made.
9. The tenderers shall execute the work with proper care. If any damage is done to the existing
structures, underground/ overhead cables, electric lines, water mains, sewerage etc. the
same should be made good by the contractor at their own cost.
10. Tenders with any special conditions are liable to be rejected. Tenerers are advised not to
stipulate any condition of their own in the tender documents issued b RITES. If at all the
tenderers find it necessary to write/clarify/explain/stipulate anything, it should be done on
the tenderers letter head paper indicating financial implication of their conditions.
11. In case of any doubt / ambiguity, the decision of Engineer shall be final and binding on the
tenderer

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS TO BILL OF QUANTITIES
1. BOQ consists of contains civil items and PEB items .
2. It is Item rate based BOQ.
3 Rates quoted in the bill of quantities for each item shall be for complete items of work
with all contractors’ material, except where otherwise stated, labour, tools and plants
including all lead, life etc. complete.
4. Rates for Pre – Engineered items shall be as per items, drawings attached and the
technical specifications. The rate shall include all material, labour T & P lead.
5. The rate against each item shall be quoted both in figures and words. Also amount for
each item shall be mentioned both in figures & words. On the last page of the BOQ,
total value of the work shall be given in figures & words.
6. All correction shall be cut and re – written with tenderers initials.
7. Summary sheet is given with the BOQ. Tenderers are requested to fill and sign the
same also.
8 Quantities given in the BOQ are approximate. RITES reserve the right to increase /
decrease / Delete any item of work as per site requirement. Payment shall be made
for actual work done and at the accepted rates only.

Designing, Providing, Fabricating, Painting, transporting, erecting
and securing in position structural steel work for building and class
rooms complete as per specifications, approved drawings shop
and/or instructions. (ground + 2 floor + roof)
Work under this item would generally cover all structural steel work
in the Buildings, including but not being limited to, columns,
stanchions, beams, raffers, purline, runners for cladding, gantry,
girders, deck plates sheetings, hangers i/c suspenders, angles,
brackets, bracing etc alongwith the roof sheeting, gable sheeting,
ridge capping, gutter/ flashing rain water pipe (Galvalume),wall girt
and insulation in the roof area.
Work to include all intermediate stages of activities not defined
herein, but otherwise implied for total completion of work.
Measurements will be on plan area along centre line of exterior Row
of columns for individual buildings.
Cost to include but not be limited to, all materials including wastage
required number of anchor bolts, all consumables, fastners of all
types for both temporary and permanent stages of work, all
temporary stays, labours, temporary works i/c staging, scaffolding,
tools, plants and equipments and cost of all incidental and
necessary testing of material, workmanship etc i/c cost of painting
(i/c cost of primer) as per specifications of the sheeting material - Hi
Rib profiled tiles pattern sheeting 930-1020 mm cores width, 28-
30mm crests @ 186-333mm centre to centre manufactured out of
0.45mm BMT (base metal thickness) Hi-Tensile
galvalume/Zincalume steel. The sheets shall have wide pans with 2-
3 no stiffening ribs for effective water shedding and special
male/female ends with full return legs on side laps for purlin support
and anti capillary flute in side lap. The sheets shall have a hot dip
metallic zinc-Aluminium alloy coating (150 gms/sqm Zinc 45%/Alum
55%). Coating mass total on both sides AZ-150 or equivalent as per
AS 1397-1993) minimum 550 Mpa yield stress with silicon modified po
The roof sheeting, gable cladding, ridge capping all type of reqd
flashing etc shall be fixed using polymers coated hot dip galvanized
hexagonal head self drilling fastners as per AS:3566 class 3 on each
crests of sheet for connection with purlins and polymer coated hot
dipped stitching fastners at 300mm centre to centre on all sides and
end laps etc. Approved or specified sealing tapes shall be used on
side laps and end laps and wherever is required of sheets and
closer to be provided at the last end of the sheet. All types of steel
sheets shall be load tested to safety carry 1.10 times the design
wind loads and coating thickness to the satisfaction of Engineer-in-
charge. Fastners shall also be load tested. The contractor is to
submit design and shop drawings for approval on the sheet profile
design and details before installation. Also consider the appropriate
Eave Gutters and down take pipes using the roof sheeting material.
Courtyard area shall remain open without any roof sheeting and
insulation.
Staircase shall be provided with structural steel members by
dullygetting approval of the design and GAD drawings from RITES
Engineer-in-charge with stainless steel railing (50 mm dia nominal
bore ), granite steps/risers with under layer of concrete 1:2:4.
Insulation specification : Insulation to be provided for entire Roof
with 2mm thick galvanized M.S. weldmesh (50x50mm) 50mm thick
glass/mineral having a density of not less than 48 Kg/Cum with one
side.
Structural Steel Specification : High tensile structural steel
(confirming to IS:2062- Grade 'B') work using structural section
inclusive of anchor bolts fabricated/procured to the required profile
and shape as called for hoisted, installed in position inclusive of all
cutting, welding (continuous welding through submerge-arc welding)
grinding and all operations necessary templates, adequate
temporary support, scaffolding stagging etc. including all tests on
materials and fabrication as required item to include the cost of sand
blasting wherever required, primer and painting as per technical
specifications. Every precaution to be taken against rusting of
sections. Erection of the above building along with two costs of
synthetic enamel paint.
Deck plate : The profile shall have 44±2.5 mm crest depth, 130±5mm
pitch and the supply width is 875mm, 0.80mm (BMT) colour coated
galvanised Grade 275 yield strength 240 Mpa coating 35 micron with
total coating thickness 35 microns SMP with silicon content of 30%
to 50% of 20 microns nominal dry file thickness (DFT). One side
over 5 micron primer coating.
