Using technology in education.

The word technology derives from the Greek word "techno " which means desire, skills and

knowledge, The use of modern technology in teaching and learning is of great

importance in the development of the educational process in schools and universities, as

it increases the interaction between students in exchanging information and obtaining it

easily without having to be in the same place or in the classroom as was the case in

the traditional way .

Most students prefer to learn by using technology for their ease and abundance of

information at any time and also because of diversity in different forms of science, and

some students may prefer traditional methods of education, but they may need more

effort, time and cost to obtain information, and the student may depend the teacher is

more in the case of traditional methods and means of education while the dependence on

the teacher is less than in the case of technology use.

In the University Of Jordan very well integrated but not in all colleges and I've been

able to deduce this information specifically through my interviews with student’s

scientific faculties do not use the [ blended learning system ] , But all university students

have access to their own page quickly and easily and also through the development of

technology greatly added the parent university system helps the students to rely on their

self in obtaining information and explaining the materials that take it the student during

the semester ,

E-learning has definite benefits over traditional classroom training. While the most obvious are

the flexibility and the cost savings from not having to travel or spend excess time away from

work, there are also others that might not be so obvious

So, during my interview with the student in my university attracting my attention,

student Geed Abdalhadi answer at my question that, do you think that computer will

replace book one a day ?

Geed Answer “,yes using computer much easier than buying the book , also computer

give us more space than put it in the libraries in the house or university,” I think no it

can’t Though many people say that technology has replaced books but I don’t think so

technology can near replace books no matter how advanced it gets. Books are always a

source of mental peace and mental satisfaction but only for the people who thinks them

to be every kind of technology has side effects but not books one would just sit have a

cup of coffee and would travel to an imaginary world but in the case of technology

like, iPad, television, tab, it seems difficult.

The second question is about of using email exchange in class room Geed said : “

sometimes the computer will breakdown, so we will lose all information on it or someone

could use my password “

So, E-mail has been used to aid classroom instruction, and highlights and examines each

usage of e-mail in terms of its effects on classroom teaching. E-mail systems have been

used for classroom activities such as: online material presentation, online collaborative and

project work, online help hotlines, online group discussions, and evaluation .

Communications in classroom use include: developing academic discourse, collaborative

and project work, knowledge building, maximizing the knowledge and experience of all

participants, increasing equity of participation, cross-cultural participation, development of

reflective writing skills, overcoming social isolation, emotional involvement, ready access

to help and support, feedback to and direct student contact with the central academic

team, active and interactive participation, freedom from constraints of time and location,

and learner control.

Email can be used to send a message to a whole group of students. I use it to set

homework assignments on one of my homework , and students send their homework to

their teacher via Email (in this case, it's all part of their learning to use the system).

Teacher can also send out standard replies or corrections to the whole group.

E-mail systems have been used for classroom activities such as: online material

presentation, online collaborative and project work, online help hotlines, online group

discussions, and evaluation. The advantages of computer mediated communications in classroom

use include: developing academic discourse, collaborative and project work, knowledge

building, maximizing the knowledge and experience of all participants, increasing equity of

participation.

What is most important with Email is to keep the interactions open and to use them in

your next encounter with a group. My sense is that Email can help students learn that

they can approach a tutor, ask questions, or criticize and have a discussion about what's

going on, Email can be used to have discussions between students. Everyone has

the chance to participate and their messages can be sent to all members of the

group.

Finally, to Improving the quality of education the use of technology in education is a

systematic process of improving its quality, helping to visualize, implement and evaluate

the educational process, assist in the application of modern education, and include

educational materials that govern the work, relationships and behavior of all participants

in these Process.
