The Industrial Revolution

During 1750 and 1850 in Britain(1). The Industrial Revolution could have started in any

other place but because Britain was a developed country it had a stable government, it

had high financial assets and it had a good supply of natural resources(2). Britain had a

huge advantage that was the trade overseas that is one of the most important factors

when it comes to Industrialization. Britain was ready for the arrival of the Industrial

Revolution due to their favorable condition(2). One of the many reasons that Britain

began with the Industrial Revolution are the inventions and machines they invented a

good example is the use of coal when people realized that coal had many uses they

started digging more deeply to obtain it. James Watt was a Scottish instrument maker

who in 1776 designed an engine which used coal to make steam and that evolve to be

a steam engine that was vital for the Industrial Revolution(3). In 1850 Britain stilled was

relatively small in terms of land and population but in terms of Industrialization and

economy, they were at the top trading coal, cotton textiles, Mand Iron. Britain was

growing rapidly having many colonies in other countries and that is how slowly it started

influencing other countries to Industrialized(4). Britain being powerful it pursued a policy

that forced other countries to free trade(4). Industrialization is the making of products at

a higher scale of production.

From 1870 to 1900 the Industrial Revolution reached the United States. Britain started

to Industrialize from 1750 to 1850 and influenced many countries as time passed(6).

Britain was successful because they were creating machines to produce products at a

higher scale and more rapidly sometimes foreigners would go to England and learned

the way the machines worked to replicate them and use them in their country to start

producing products that are what Samuel slater did(7). From that Samuel Slater made a

cotton company in Massachusetts from there Industrialization in the Northeast started to

expand and that caused the development of the transportation systems for trading(7).

Agricultural Industrialization took a while to start making profits but in the 1900s almost

half of Americans were farmers and didn’t have another option because of the high

demand for food(8). When Industrialization came in place it allowed farmers to have a

second option due to that Industrialization made it easier for farmers to produce more

crops so there was not a high demand for farmers(8). One similarity that Britain

Industrial Revolution shared with the United States is that the Industrial Revolution it

was started by the Immigrants. (9) Another similarity is the positive changes in

communication and banking systems that the Industrial Revolution caused(9). There

were not many differences between Britain's Industrial Revolution and the American

Industrial Revolution one of the most notable differences is the time from when they

started Britain’s Industrial revolution started in 1750 and The American Industrial

Revolution started. in 1870 and that was a huge time difference because in the 1870’s

the work shifts were decided by a clock not by the sun and the entertainment industry
rise because the workers needed to relax and be entertained for their next day to go to

work(10).
