R.N.E. PUMPS: VERTICAL SPINDLE SLURRY, CHEMICAL & BRAKISH WATER SUMP
PUMPS.
R.N.E. Pumps, established in 1977, is based on the East Rand of Johannesburg in the
Republic of South Africa. It is the central hub of one of the largest gold and platinum deep
mining areas in the world. R.N.E. Pumps are ideally situated to service and distribute its
product to South Africa, the African continent and overseas markets. The company services
and deals with some of the major mining companies in the world, such as AngloGold
Ashanti, Anglo Platinum, Impala Platinum, Goldfields, De Beers, B.H.P. Billiton,
Placerdome, Saudi Arabia Mining Company, Harmony and ARU.

R.N.E. Pumps are designed for use in

underground mining applications for
dewatering, removal of slurries and other
dirty water duties. The use of different
materials, motors and configurations
enable R.N.E. to supply a
wide range of pumps,
tailor made to suit
specific applications.

Introduction
Diagram
PUMPS
R.N.E. Pumps accommodate different size sumps from 300mm, 500mm and 900mm
and can be extended further with a tail pipe up to 3m. Discharge diameters vary for
the required headflow and are as follows: 50mm, 80mm, 100mm and 150mm. Different
size impellers are available for achieving greater heads and flows.

PERFORMANCE

MOTORS
R.N.E. manufacture its own motors in a steel frame, squirrel cage and flange mounted
configuration for the rugged environment encountered underground. Motors are manu
factured to Anglo American specification AAC538-31 and are available as follows:

7,5kw-4 pole (1450rpm)

- 15kw-4 pole (1450rpm)
- 22kw-2 pole (2950rpm) high speed
- 37kw-2 pole (2950rpm) high speed
- 45kw-4 pole (1450rpm)

Alternatively, pumps are available with

cast iron motors from various accredited
manufacturers or as a bare pump.

PERFORMANCE
MAINTENANCE
One of the many unique features of the R.N.E. pump is that
it requires minimal maintenance. A complete bearing cartridge
is available, which allows the pump to be overhauled and in
use in under an hour. This item is available as a spare part and
consists of a shaft, upper column seal rings, bearings and
bearing housings. All parts in the pump are spigot aligned and
the impeller is adjusted from the drive end where no shims or
spacers are required. There are no glands, shaft seals or
mechanical seals to maintain, therefore the pump can run dry
indefinitely.

CONSTRUCTION
Understanding the arduous South African mining conditions, R.N.E. has developed an
extremely durable and hard working pump requiring minimal maintenance. Having a
maximum water level enables the pump to keep all the bearings (sealed units) out of
the water enabling the pump to run 24 hours a day wet or dry, requiring no further
lubrication. The open impeller allows slurries and solids up to 15mm and a positively
supported shaft to handle S G’s up to 1,3. Other features include an integral strainer
for drainage applications, an integral coupling and shaft guard which are free
standing or with a sole plate. The wet end includes the impeller, casing and suction
inlet. Components exposed to extreme conditions can be manufactured in a range of
materials to suit the application, which include:

- 27% Hard chrome iron (standard)

- 316 Stainless steel
- Polyurethane
- Nickel Chrome Alloy
- HVOF Thermal Spray Coatings

MAINTENANCE
ACCREDITATION
R.N.E. Pumps has achieved ISO rating from TUV CERT. Certification body of TUV
Anlagentechnik GmbH strictly adhering to the following manufacturing standards:

- DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 (Quality control).

- ISO 14001 (Environmental).
- OHSAS 18001:1999 (Health & safety).
