Raw Material & Raw material & packaging supplier allergen
Packaging Supplier controls must be reviewed and confirmed as
Management suitable for Free from production. A regular
system of review should be in place.
18.4
Raw material ingredient lists must be fully
disclosed and reviewed to confirm suitability for
Free from production.

Any changes to raw materials (e.g. source,


supply or formulation) should be notified to you
and agreed with your Asda Technical Manager
and Product Manager prior to the change.

Reconditioned ingredients or oils are not


permitted for use in Asda Branded products.

Receiving Raw Where allergens are handled in the supply chain


Materials & Packaging a certificate of analysis or conformity including a
‘Free from’ statement should be provided with

Where no allergens are handled a statement

through risk assessment considering equipment

18.11

Product Testing Free From verification analysis will be based on


risk dependant on the Free From claims being
18.12a made, the risk to the consumer and the allergens
handled on the manufacturing site.

A documented risk assessment will be in place


that considers all associated risks and
determines testing frequencies.
E.g. where allergens are handled and equipment
is common a higher quantity of verification
testing will be required than where the equipment
areas are not common or the allergens are not
handled on site or in the raw material supply
chain.

Product Testing All in-house testing methods must be to a


recognised standard and validated as effective to
18.12b below the legal threshold limits or where a
threshold limit does not exist this must be the
lowest achievable limit of detection.

Module Audits From 1st July 2015 you will be required to choose
the Asda Free From bolt-on module in
18.13 conjunction with the unannounced BRC audit
option 1 combined with the Asda AA bolt-on
module.

On-boarding For new suppliers the Free From on-boarding


process must be arranged directly with the Asda
18.14 Technical contact to schedule a date for the
assessment. The site must allow enough time for
the assessment to be carried to ensure product
integrity prior to launch.
