INTRODUCTION

Broiler chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is gallinaceous domesticated fowl,

bred and raised specifically for meat production. They are a hybrid of the egg-laying

chicken, both being a subspecies of the red jungle fowl (Gallus gallus). Typically

broilers have white feathers and yellowish skin. Most commercial broiler reaches

slaughter-weight at approximately 14 weeks of age. Because the meat broilers are this

young at slaughter their behavior and physiology are that of immature birds. Due to

artificial selection for rapid early growth and the husbandry used to sustain this, broilers

are susceptible to several welfare concerns, particularly skeletal malformation and dye

function, skin and eye lesions and congestive heart condition. Broilers are usually

grown as mixed-sex flocks in large sheds under intensive conditions, but some breeds

can be grown as free-range flocks. Chicken are one of the most common and

widespread.

Broiler production are the most progressive animal enterprises in the

Philippines today. The poultry industry as backyard enterprise, but has shifted to the

formation of very large integrated contract farming operations. The growth of poultry

industry in the Philippines has been impressive but its problems include in efficient

management and the prevalence of many destructive poultry diseases and parasites

cannot be ignored.

There are some benefit of broiler meat and eggs. Meat are rich in iodine to help

your body produce thyroid hormone, iron to carry oxygen around your body. Zinc to

keep your immune system strong, your skin healthy, and for growth development and

reproductive health. Vitamin B12 for your nervous system, omega 3 to support heart

and brain health.

Eggs are very good source of inexpensive, high quality protein. More than half

the protein of an egg is found in the egg white long with vitamin B2 and lower amounts

of fat and cholesterol than the yolk. The white are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D,

B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper.

Good brooding management will always result in better flock uniformity.

Uniformity is the key to good and consistent results and cannot be achieved after doing

a bad brooding job in the first 14 days. The critical factors are temperature, air quality,

water and feed. When these are correct, 80% of your success will be achieved. Always

remember never to sacrifice temperature for ventilation and never to sacrifice

ventilation for temperature.

II. OBJECTIVE

1. To determine their Characteristics

2. To determine the different types of diseases and parasites.

3. To determine the impact of production

III. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The result of the study will give additional information and knowledge on

How broiler chicken be raised in a convenient poultry house which may affect their

growth development. This study is worth beneficial to the following:

Broiler Raiser

This would give them information and knowledge in proper handling on broiler

production.

Student

This would give them knowledge on how to trait broiler for better growth

development and for production.

Instructor

This serve as their ready reference in teaching broiler production and the

importance of having inconvenient poultry house.

IV. RESEARCH LOCALE

The study will be in Can-avid, Eastern Samar. The respondents will be the

owner of the poultry in different Barangay’s in Can-avid Eastern Samar. These

respondents will be interviewed in their house and poultry. The researcher choose the

place of implementation because it will give the researcher the needed information for

the broiler. The study will be conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2018-

2019.
