I. Project Overview
Tardiness, absences, and low grades. These are some results of
students who are disinterested in lessons and in going to school.
Distraction such as gadgets, relationships, bad study and waking
habits; and added by tons of papers as stressful reading materials;
these are the common problems and struggles of these students. And
the result of these problems are problems for teachers. Following
up their complication such as missing outputs, projects, and
requirements is stressful for them if they were done manually.
Today’s generation of learners focuses more on digital tools.
And so, the proponents came up with a solution to improve learning
experience.
“STUDIES” is a software app intended for learning and
organizing student's daily school activities like alarms and daily
schedule, reminders, note takings, reading computer generated notes
like PDF and word document files, and even an online forum for group
projects and activities. It can also serve as a student’s ID and bio
data where their current data such as their ID picture, year level
and council, name of adviser, section, track or strand you've chosen,
contact info for emergency, and other school related information that
can be accessed by your teachers and fellow schoolmates. Teachers may
use the app for distributing notes, reminding students to cope up
with their requirements and use it as their attendance and grading
sheet for monitoring each student’s performance.
The funding for this said project will come from the support of
the school, donations, solicitations, and the Local Government Unit.
Supporting this project will help lessen the burden for teachers,
students and most importantly, for enhancing the educational system
of the Municipality.
The beneficiary of this project are, of course, the teachers,
which will be having a convenient way of working; students, this will
also enhance their learning experience; and also for parents, to see
that their children make use of today’s technology for learning.
Once this app is released, the expected outcome would be the
better performance coming from both teachers and students, and with
today’s competition in terms of technology, the proponents aim to
give name to the school nationally and globally for developing an app
that is both convenient for learning.
II. Design and Methodology
The proponents aim to finish developing the app within 11-12
months, and planning to test it on 3 selected strands and sections
for the test drive of the project. The app is both accessible by
teachers and students. It has two friendly UI (user interface), one
for teachers, and one for students.
Once you install and open the app in your smart devices, you
will see a log in and sign up screen. Pressing the log in button will
bring you to the log in section where you will enter your username
and password to open your account, but if you press the sign up
button, it will display the sign up form where it will ask you for
your full name, age, sex, birthday, school name, email address (you
can use Gmail, yahoo, or outlook mail), and an account username and
password. Read and accept the terms and conditions.
Once you’re finished, tap “Next” and an option screen will be
displayed where you can choose if you are a “Teacher” or a “Student.”
If you choose “Student”, it will open the app where you put your data
(real data is required to avoid misconception and because it will be
a onetime fill up data) such as profile picture (ID pictures are
recommended), full name, age, sex, section or strand, name of
adviser, year level and council (the theme of the app differ depends
on what year level or council you enter), year enrolled, class
schedule and subject teachers. This serves as your home screen. There
are other tabs which has specific functions like the “Tools” tab,
where you can use to set alarms, reminders, and for note taking and
reading. Another tab is the “Social” tab where you can interact with
either teachers or fellow students through chat, post notes,
pointers, and discuss about school matters. The notification tab is
for seeing your classmates’ and teachers’ recent activities. The
“Settings” tab is where you can modify some features like
notification sounds and font style. And here you can see the “moved
up” settings where you can modify your data once you move to a higher
year level. The last tab is the “Help” tab where you can see the
“contact developer” and can ask for help, and report any issue you
encounter.
But if you choose the teacher, it will display a similar screen
but slightly different. Like the “year level” is changed into
“department”, the “name of adviser” is changed into “advisory class”,
and some other data. In the tools tab, the “note taking and reading”
is modified into “lesson plan”, and addition tool like “class record”
and “attendance sheets” is present. And in the settings tab the “move
up” menu is changed into “modify”.
