Lesson Procedures for Thursday November 15th.

Introduction ( 8 min.):

Show the students the video on Inuksuk’s. (https://tvokids.com/school-age/videos/inukshuk)

This video will take 3 minutes to watch.

After watching the video we will have a classroom discussion.

I will ask the students what an Inuksuk is and what they learned about Inuksuk’s from the video we
watched.

This will take 5 minutes.

Body ( 20 min.):

I will then explain to the students that just like how we made our family’s coat of arms, Indigenous people
who we have been learning about, they will sometimes make an Inuksuk specifically for their family’s
community and to keep them safe. Some people also make totem poles as well to represent their families
but we are going to be making Inuksuk’s instead because we have already learned about them.
The students will receive 20 minutes to work on this. It is okay if they do not finish as we can continue it
the next class with any left over time we may have.

Closure (2 min.):

Ask the students to please hand in what they have finished into the yellow social studies bin.

Ask the students to please sit on the carpet and we will have a quick review of what Inuksuk’s are before
we transition into science.
