Work Experience
FIELD TECHNICIAN

FORT BRAGG | MICHIGAN STATE | MAY 2018- JULY 2018

During this field season, the Saint Francis Satyr and Appalachian brown butterfly were being monitored for survival. The
Saint Francis satyr is an endangered butterfly species. Field crews are to monitor species abundance and butterfly
behavior via surveying and thus make efforts toward rebuilding populations.
· Demonstrated integrity and honesty while interacting with guests, team members and managers.
· Surveyed for butterflies
· Entered collected data
· Built enclosures for marked butterflies
· Field restoration of monitored sites
· Flagged vegetation poles and surveyed vegetation in marked plots
· Greenhouse and host plant maintenance; planting flowers, weeding, watering plants, etc.
FLORIDA EVERGLADES | NC STATE | FEB 2018-MAY 2014
During this field season Bartram’s Hairstreak butterflies were being monitored and measured daily. Doing this helped
measure survival based on the size of caterpillar and gestation period (turning from pupae to butterfly). The Hairstreak
butterfly species and its host plant, the Croton linearis, served as climate proxies, because their survival is thought to be
heavily dependent upon climate change; we studied in which ways they are affected.
· Hiked 5 miles a day, 25-30 miles a week
· Collected then entered data
· Searched for and measured found caterpillars daily
· Monitored daily growth and death of found caterpillars
· Demonstrated integrity and honesty while interacting with guests, team members and managers.
· Surveyed for butterflies
· Built enclosures for monitored butterflies
