WEEK 1

In the first week of teaching practicum, in Asma Primary School for girls. I meet
Ms.Amal math teacher for grade 1. When my MST give a new lesson sometimes she
linked the new lesson with other subjects or sometimes with real life, while for the
explanation the exercise in the book she uses a data show to apply a pdf copy in the
board, she only answer a six-question in the book according to MOE request in math
subject. At the beginning of the semester, students already know how to count from 1
to 10, in this week they use an additional term. A teacher taught all levels in the
explanation but when she let them assess her students to answer the book questions
some students don’t need a help while others need a special help. I gave a lesson how
they can get 10 by adding two different numbers with a whole class. For engaging
students I motivating them with a good feedback word such as good job, excellent
etc. To explain the lesson I use 10 minutes, while for moving to answer the book it
took 2-5 min. the time was a little fast when I tried to help students with a lower
case. At the end of the class when I put a game, in that moment I lost to control in
students behavior. For introducing the math lesson I tell students a short story. For
observing students I walking around and use criteria area with faces while they are
working. In this week I observe the new strategy for teaching math which links the
lesson to another subject.
