INTRODUCIION TO COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

23-37 Janüary 2417

The objedive of these lecture series on "lntrodudion to

CFD" is to prov¡de an elementary tutorial presentation on
computational fluid dynam¡cs (CFD), emphasizing the
fundamentals and surveying a variety of solution techniques
whose applications range from low speed ¡ncompress¡b¡e fow
to hypersonic flow. The course is aimed at persons who have
had líttle or no expeñenc€ in th¡s f¡eld, both recent graduates as
well as professional eng¡neers, and will provide
- an ins¡ght into the philosophy and polter of CFD
- an understanding ofthe matherraticál nature of the fluid
dynam¡ca equations
- a famil¡arity with various solution techniques
At the conclusion of the course, an attendee will be well
prepared to understand the l¡terature ¡n this field, to bllow more
sophisticated state-of-the-art lec{ure series, and to beg¡n the
application of CFD to h¡s or her special areas of @ncern. The
techniques to be discussed wi,l be appl¡cable to atl frelds of ftuid
dynamics including aeronautics, industrial flows, wind energy
etc.
The principal lecturer Dr. M. Perié is co.author of a wel¡-
known monography on Computational Methods for Fluid
Dynam¡cs.
The Direc{o. ofthis ¡ecture series is professor H. Deconinck
of the von Karman Institúte
