Las estructuras elegidas para hacer frente a todos estos condicionantes se han
basado en soluciones preferentemente metálicas y mixtas, tratando en todo
momento de utilizar megaestructuras: sistemas estructurales que tratan de
aprovechar las máximas dimensiones de las formas arquitectónicas para lograr,
disponiendo las piezas más ligeras posible, y por tanto, más económicas,
respuestas deformacionales de gran rigidez y máxima funcionalidad; y también
conseguir a través de tales sistemas, procesos constructivos que aprovechen la
capacidad evolutiva de estas grandes estructuras para limitar el empleo de
grandes cimbras o sistemas auxiliares provisionales.
Los cuatro edificios que componen el complejo Torre Mare Nostrum (figura 2)
se han denominado simplificadamente como: Torre; Capitel; Portaaviones y
Cascada; debido a las reminiscencias de sus formas. A estos podrían añadirse
otros dos: el edificio Puente, de tres plantas de altura que comunica los
edificios Torre y Portaaviones, por encima de la calle interior citada; y el edificio

Las dos fachadas laterales del edificio no son paralelas, sino que presentan
entre sí una leve angulación en planta. La fachada frontal está constituida por
piezas curvilíneas, que van avanzando desde el borde exterior inferior hacia
fuera y hacia arriba en forma totalmente independiente un borde del otro.
