BSIM (LTE/WRAN)

WHAT IS BSIM?

The Base Station Integration Manager (BSIM) enables the automatic integration of one or more
RBSs, eRBSs and STN nodes into the OSS. BSIM is a self configuration feature which reduces the
workload for taking a WRAN IP RBS, LTE eRBS or STN nodes into service.

BSIM has seven functions:

 Addition of new LTE eRBSs nodes to the OSS (including configuring for auto integration).
 Addition of new WCDMA IP RBS node(s) to OSS (including configuring for auto
integration)
 Addition of new STN nodes to the OSS (including configuring for auto integration)
 Addition of new BTS nodes to the OSS
 Auto-Integration of LTE eRBSs nodes.
 Auto-Integration of WCDMA IP nodes.
 Auto integration of STN nodes.

The following diagrams show the sequence of steps BSIM goes through to add and auto
integrate an eRBS. A user of BSIM does not need to interact with these applications as the
BSIM application handles all interactions with
the applications.
Ftp Service
On the root terminal type the below command

/opt/ericsson/nms_cif_cs/etc/unsupported/bin/cstest -s ONRM_CS -ns masterservice lt

FtpService

BSIM Bundles
For BSIM to function, BSIM bundles should be in ACTIVE state. Check the state of bundles by
executing the following command:-
smtool -action OsgiFwk listBundles ! !

Example: 2008 RESOLVED com.ericsson.oss.radio.common.domain_1.0

2557 INSTALLED com.ericsson.oss.utilities.rules.manager_1.0.0
2962 ACTIVE com.ericsson.oss.bsim.server_1.0.1

If any of the bundles above are at state INSTALLED or RESOLVED execute the following to start
each :
smtool -action OsgiFwk startBundle <Bundle-Name> <Bundle-Name>
OEX GUI

Two ways to delete the Nodes:-

 Using OEX
 Using Arne delete xml file.

Also delete BCG import files generated during BSIM Import from the following path:-
/var/opt/ericsson/nms_umts_wran_bcg/files/import
ls –ltr |grep –I RNC151
rm RNC151*
Files with RNC151 can be deleted.

Auto Integration (AI)

In AI we have the below functionally.

 Site Basic Template
 Site Equipment Template
 Site Installation Template
 Import Bulk Post Install Configuration
 DHCP Template
We would be using only the first three functionally.

Log to see issues

 OsgiFwk Debug logs:-/ossrc/systest/LOGS/STmon.OSGI_logfile_backups/yymmdd

 BCG Exception logs:- /var/opt/ericsson/nms_umts_wran_bcg/
 Import Logs:- /var/opt/ericsson/nms_umts_wran_bcg/logs/import/
 Arne Logs: /var/opt/ericsson/log/

Pre-Condition:

1) A dedicated simulation for BSIM KPI should be available with 1RNC-100RBS for WRAN
BSIM and with 100 LTE-ERBS nodes for LTE BSIM test case and SL3 should be enabled
from netsim.
2) Make sure that MOs - IpAccessHostEt, ReliableProgramUniter for WRAN nodes and
IpAccessHostEt , ReliableProgramUniter , SectorEquipmentFunction for LTE nodes
should be existing in netsim.
3) XLS file with entries of 100 nodes should be available for both WRAN/LTE
4) The IP Address and Node Name in XLS/XML should be matching with the nodes in
netsim and FTP service should be updated corresponding to the server.
5) The XLS should contain contain Radio/Transport tab filled
6) CS and OSGI MC’s should be online.
7) OsgiFwk bundles for BSIM should be in active state.
8) No parallel BCG, ARNE, BSIM operations should be ongoing and Turn OFF Nead Full sync
& PMS -FM load should be 100% .

Test Case Execution:

1) Make sure the nodes to be added are stopped in netsim.

2) Select tab in BSIM view in CEX GUI corresponding to the node type to be added.
3) Give a text in Planned Configuration Name (a new plan name , or an existing plan can be
selected from the drop down ).
4) Import the nodes via XLS/XML to the BSIM GUI.
5) Click on Validate the nodes tab – “All selected node validate ok” message will appear.
6) Click on Add nodes tab, a dialogue box will appear for confirmation of adding the nodes
in OSS. Press OK.
7) Move to the result tab in BSIM GUI, and confirm that the nodes are started getting
added.
8) Record the Time BSIM starts adding the first Node from CIF Log View .
9) Record the Time BSIM successfully added the last Node from CIF Log View.
10) Start the nodes in netsim.
11) Select the nodes from CEX and do a force SYNC. All selected nodes should become
connected/synchronized.
12) In the PCA view, Select the plan to which nodes are added, and activate the plan.
13) Record the Plan Activation Time from DDPST.

Results Calculation:

Started Time & Ended Time to be updated in STKPI TRACKER is as enumerated below:-

1) STARTED TIME = Time BSIM starts adding the first Node (from Step 8 of Test Execution)
2) ENDED TIME = Time BSIM successfully added the last Node + Plan Activation duration.
(from Step 9 & 13 of Test Execution)

*Note: Total Result duration of execution is the sum of Node Addition and Plan Activation
duration. The force SYNC time for the nodes is not considered for Results calculation.

2. ARNE – REHOME
Pre-condition
1. Separate nesim simulation should be available with 1RNC,400RBS and 2 RXI . SL3 should
be enabled from netsim .
2. Create and delete ARNE XML file with entries of 400 rbs,2 rxi and 1 RNC should be
available.
3. CS and ARNE MC’s needs to be online.
4. No other Parallel ARNE operation is allowed.
5. Nodes should be in start state at netsim .
6. Make sure the nodes and, sites to which they are added, are not already existing in the
server, if any existing, it needs to be deleted before testcase execution.
Test Case execution:
1. Schedule ARNE create import
ARNE Import script path and syntax “/opt/ericsson/arne/bin/import.sh -f <xml for create> -
import -i_nau”.
2. Schedule ARNE delete import
ARNE Import script path and syntax “/opt/ericsson/arne/bin/import.sh -f <xml for delete> -
import -i_nau”
Result Calculation.
1. Results can be checked in DDP by clicking on “ARNE” on test case executed day.
2. Result can also be calculated from ARNE logs with the start time appended at the end of
import log file name and last updated time of the log file. (log file )
3. ARNE – EXPORT:
Pre-condition
1. CS and ARNE MC’s needs to be online
2. No other ARNE Parallel operations are allowed.
Result Calculation.
1. Schedule ARNE export in nmsadm crontab using command
“/opt/ericsson/arne/bin/export.sh”
2. Calculate the results from the log file which is created while the ARNE export execution is
performed
3. Log file path is “/var/opt/ericsson/arne” - Start time of the log file appended at the end
of log file name and last updated time of the log file will give the duration this test case
