Bula from Fiji,

At the close of nomination last week Friday and having to recall the earlier results
due to an oversight on my part regarding the number of votes for Jethro and Mikaele
in particular, I have re-tabulated all the votes per country basis over the weekend.
The selection process has been very tough as people have their own preferences
over each other. I have also received emails of concerns casting doubts on the
capacity of some of our nominees including issues of fair representations from many
of you.
However, as the facilitator of this current selection process, I would like to say that it
had been transparent and fair to all but without its own short comings either.

One of the shortcomings have been the need to have a selection committee in place
that can facilitate and screen all the candidates before they are put forward to the
floor for voting. But since time is not on our side, we have always reverted to email
voting.
In the future, we have to also look carefully at our selection criteria and if possible
include other considerations as well, instead of just gender, developed/developing
nations, etc.
We may also wish to count organizations separately from nations and include them
as separate votes instead of putting them into just one basket, as is the current
practice for this particular selection process.
I also understand that the selection process may have disadvantaged some of our
nominees which further stresses the importance of having a selection committee in
place.

Without further delay, the results are as follows;

Teanau Jethro Mikaele Catherine
Australia Australia Kiribati Australia
Cook Islands Hawaii Fiji Hawaii
Hawaii New Caledonia Marshalls Marshalls
Maluku NZ Samoa NZ
NZ PNG Sol. Is Samoa
Sol. Is Sol. Is Tokelau Sol. Is
Tuvalu Tokelau Tonga Tokelau
Vanuatu Tonga
Vanuatu

Both Teanau and Jethro have 7 votes each while Mikaele has 8 votes and Catherine
has 9 votes.
Therefore, based on the tabulated results above, our two new GSC reps for COP24
are Catherine from NZ and Mikaele from Tokelau.

The number of countries supporting each nominees were received either as normal
emails and letter of support.

Please note that their names shall not be communicated to the GSC until the end of
today, to allow time for those of you who may wish to seek clarifications on the above
results.
Should you have any questions, feel free to email me directly and cc Maina.
At your service, vinaka.
