Objectives
Students will explore the looping pedal and how to create a track to improvise over using
garage band looping
Procedure
Share with students Christopher Bill videos to show them what is possible
Create a track using Sofrito (bass line, piano low, piano high)
o 2 measures of each
o Play melody, STOP at break and play it. Start it again for solo section
Have them create a track with blues progression
o Bass Line, Guide tone, melody, improvisation
Talk about what went well
o Going for general time and rhythm
What went poorly
o Pitch across sections, missed notes, etc
Try it again with Song for my Father
Assessment
Did they explore looping in the classroom? Yes or No?
