What does this data mean for instruction during the unit?
This data tells me that the students have prior knowledge in this content and will only require a small
review to make sure those that missed a few points are 100% proficient at the material before moving
on form it completely, I would use a summative tool later to see if the students improve later on.
What does this data mean for instruction for the Focus Students during the unit?
Focus students tended to do better with smaller tasks that showed proficiency, Overall the focus
students showed as much prior knowledge as the rest of the students when they were in fact focused on
that material.
The students will be tested to inform me of how much of the material they are learning. Objective 1 will
consist of easier content that I feel all students should have mastered and objective 2 will be reaching
into harder difficulties. Objective 1 will consist of notes on a Bb scale being written on a staff with
correct placement of Bb and Eb included. Objective 2 will consist of any notes including raised notes.
How did the data from these formative assessments impact learning during the unit? The formative
assessments impact what needs to be covered more before the post assessment. While overall the class
is doing well, however as shown on the graph objective one has the class more proficient than objective
2 which was to be expected. Objective 1 can be moved on from and Objective 2 needs a bit more review
The focus students were consistent with all their work, again there was no clear score difference that
was drastic for these students. It also gave these students a consistent evaluation of where they are in

during the unit. It also shows that students understand the concepts that were taught and have
improved from where they began. Only part where students struggled was on material that was meant
What does these data mean for learning for the Focus Students during the unit? This data shows
that the focus students learned and improved from where they started, and the instructional strategies
For future instruction, what have you learned about how students learn and the efficacy of your
There are several ways that students learn, each student can understand the topic at hand in different
ways, whether that’s through auditory, visual, kinesthetic means, each student can be taught the topic. I
have learned that all students learn in different ways, and there are ways to teach to each of their
needs. I learned that the way this unit was delivered was effective for this group of students but may
not be as effective for different groups of students. Students were encouraged to peer teach each other
and help facilitate learning in the classroom. If I were to add on anything, I would try and challenge
those students that were excelling in the class more and more with more in depth work to keep them
engaged.
