THE DEFINITION

WHAT IS BUILDING CONSTRUCTION?

Is a human activity of adding structure in
the environment area (nature / developed
area) for certain purpose.
It can be a new development / renovation
of existing spaces/ infill development
It involve design, technology, machinery,
material and peoples
The first shelters were a house, but later it
evolved to other functions, such as storage
and ceremony, were housed in separate
buildings
The method of construction and the material
used always evolve and follow some trends.

WHAT IS STRUCTURE?
Is anything that is constructed or built
from different interrelated parts with a fixed
(permanently/ temporary) location on the
ground.
It includes the building, bridge, canal, dams,
railways, tunnel ext.
Designated to carry or transfer load to
the ground

OTHER RELATED TERMINOLOGIES

WHAT IS BUILDING ENVELOPE?

relates to design and construction of the
exterior of the building.
the physical separator between the interior
and exterior of a building.
It includes the air barrier, thermal barrier
and often the weather barrier.
A good building envelope involves using
exterior wall materials and designs that are
climate-appropriate, structurally sound
and aesthetically pleasing.
Function:
+ Support (to resist and transfer structural and dynamic loads)
+ Control (the flow of matter and energy of all types)
+ Finish (to meet desired aesthetics on the inside and outside)

is a fine job in building construction process

where it forms the beauty of a building
Can be divided into several sections:
