QUESTION: Explain different types of barriers in effective communication?

We start communicate to this world right after the birth we want to convey our message to the
other people around us. As we grow up we start talking to the people to say them what we need. And
many people face different difficulties in process of communication due to lack of some confidence and
many other barriers than make their communication ineffective. There are many barriers which make
our communication poor but here I discuss some most common barriers of communication.

PHYSICAL BARRIER:

In communication physical barriers arise due to problem of,

Medium for communication
distance of communication
Example:

1 ) you are talking to someone who is standing away of you

2)you are using faulty medium to talk to a person.

PHYCHOLOGICAL BARRAER:

This barrier take place due lack of confidence in you and may be you are thinking that
your personality is not complete.
Example:

1) Your communication is full of breaks and pauses due to not having confidence in
yourself.

SOCIAL BARRIER:

Social barrier effect the communication because you not communicate perfectly due to
fear of losing your image in society.
Example:

1) you do not to elder frequently because of that you may not say them something
wrong which cause damage for your image.

POOR LISTENING SKILLS:

Sometime you talking to a person which are not able to hear you because of poor
listening ability ability or defect of ears.

Example:

1) Sometime a person as bad condition of ears and you cannot talk to him effectively.
2) Person cannot hear you clearly because of noise pollution.

DIFFERENT LANGUAGES:
 People living in different areas of the world speak different kinds of language. Most of
Which we cannot understand and cannot communicate to them.

Example:

1) As a person who speaks English cannot talks to a person who speaks French.
2) As in Pakistan 48% people speaks Urdu but English is international language
which create communication gap on basis of language different.

ASSUMTIONS:

Sometime when we r talking to someone and considering that he is getting my point but
actually he is not.

Example:

1) If I am saying something and consider listener understand it but actually it is not.

IMPROPER USE OF QUESTION:

Sometime we ask such a type of question which listener or communicator cannot

answer such a improper question cause gap of communication.

Example:

1) Personal questions which can irritate listener or communicator.

ATTITUDINAL BARRIERS:

Consider two persons of different nature and behavior talking at a thing but different
point of view which also cause barrier of communication.

Example:

1) Some people agree on a point and some do not agree and cause communication
barrier.

NON VERBAL SIGNALS:

Most of the communication around us takes place by gesture and signals we thought
that the person standing to us is getting my point but he cannot get your signals.

Example:

1) If you are shaking your head for yes and may be observer considering it for no which
cause misunderstanding.
