1 Introduction
This bulletin includes important details that apply to partners participating in the Trial for Avaya Communication Server 1000 Release 7.0. It
describes the software, Product Enhancement (PEPs) required as well as the process for ensuring that the correct Patch Deplist is used. It also
provides a list of open known issue advisements, limitations along with their comments or workarounds.
An overview of the Global features developed for the Communication Server 1000 Release 7.0 software can be found in the Communication
Server CS 1000 release 7.0 NDA presentation which can be downloaded from of the Partner Information Center.
The main focus of this trial is the new features introduced in Release 7.0: IP Media Services, SIP Line Enhancements, SIP Trunk
Enhancements, IPv6, Co-Resident Solutions, Continued Integration with IBM and Microsoft, Security Enhancements, Centrally Managed High
Scalability Solution, System Capacity Increases, IP Attendant Console, SIP DECT & Survivable SIP Media Gateway
Additional information can be found in the “New in This Release” NTP (NN43001- 115). See the documentation section of this bulletin for
information on how to retrieve NTPs. The NTPs should be referenced along with this release bulletin during the upgrade, installation and
commissioning of 7.0 trial systems. All users of Release 7.0 software should read the “What’s New in this Release” NTP prior to this document
as this document serves as an advisement to the 7.0 related software and firmware lineup. Also please reference the CS 1000 Release 7.0

2 Feature Packages
Three new Packages are being introduced with CS 1000 release:
Pkg 421, CS 1000E HS High Scalability - New System Type. This package allows the configuration of the new CS 1000E HS system for large
scale deployments supporting 100,000+ users
Pkg 422, IP Media Services – This package enables CS 1000 nodes to access local or remote IP Media Services via SS/MSC.
Pkg 411, ACD Feature Enhancement package – This Package formally restricted is now an orderable package. It contains; ACD CDN
Expansion: ACD Busy Routing, Call Join, and AST Expansion

6 Patches
For Release 7.0 Trial Patches, navigate a web Browser to the Enterprise Solutions PEP Library (ESPL) to download all Required Trial patches
for your respective machine types.
• Please confirm your access to the Trial ESPL website: http://www.nortel.com/espl
For Call Servers & IP Line - “Trial PEP Dependency Lists” (MDP)
• Connect to “Trial PEP Dependency Lists” and verify that you can access / download the Deplists for your relevant hardware platforms.
• For Linux Elements - “Trial RLS 6.0/7.0 Linux Service Packs” (SP)
This upgrade consists of mainly a data migration, and is described in short below:
A. Backup the customer data (of older release), for example: CS, NRS.
B. Fresh new install of UCM, Member Servers - Deploy Rls 7.0 Software to systems.
C. System Restore the full customer data accordingly from corresponding Managers (e.g.: EM for CS; NRSM for NRS).
Note: there is no change for the VxWorks base type Call Server
A. Backup ALL server types (6.0) data, for example: Core Call Server (EDD), NRSM; and also full Linux Base backups using
sysbackup –b.
B. Prior to starting any upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0 use your 6.0 UCM to install SU Patch nortel-cs1000-linuxbase-6.00.18.65-
03.i386.000.ntl on all target 6.0 Linux Member elements.
This will allow the new functionality introduced with 7.0, to Build a CS1000 Group View - Perform a Software Deployment –
Deployment View - Server View, simple "System Upgrade” dropdown which includes Linux Base and Applications one step
Upgrade.
Upgrade Primary UCM Linux Base servers to Rls 7.0, using Base DVD or USB install.
C. Populating Rls 7.0 Deployment view according to the new 7.0 DM procedures (See Linux base NTP).
D. Utilizing new “System Upgrade” functionality from DM to automatically upgrade 6.0 Linux Servers (other than Primary UCM) Note:
There is no change for upgrading a VxWorks Call Server
A. Prior to starting any upgrade install the current posted Service Pack (SP) to ensure SU nortel-cs1000-Jboss-Quantum-
7.00.19.03.i386.001.ntl is in service on all the UCM A and all target 7.0 Linux Member elements.
This will allow the next step below.
B. Perform EDD backup on any Call servers and NRSM Backup on NRS servers.
C. Backup all Linux servers for full Linux Base backups:
sysbackup –b
North America:
• Use Standard Case routing to the appropriate NA Focal Team support Queue.
NOTE: Please engage Avaya Emergency Recovery Team for Critical Outage support.
Other Regions:
• SU_TS_EV_WORKFLOW_EMEA
• SU_TS_EV_ANZ for ANZ region
• SU_TS_ENT_AP_ASEAN for India
• SU_TS_ES_VOICE_COE_GDNT for GC, ASEAN, Japan, Korea
• SU_NSC_MEXICO for CALA
Please ensure Beta Trial cases for Release 7.0 arrives to Support Queues, with the following details:
Please review these open issues and consider the Component/Project or Interoperability applicable when engineering the systems
you are considering implementing during this Beta Trial timeframe.

9 Feature Advisements
SIP Lines
Q02141234 - vi: No greeting when CS1K1_MOBX calls CS1K2_SIPLine xfer CS1K1_IPPhone CFAC toCP
Call Scenario : call over tandem trunk - User A on CS1000_#1 to SIPLine User B on CS1000_#2 who then blind transfer back to User C on
CS1000_#1 (2004P2 phone) which is in Call Forward All Calls to CallPilot.
Problem: CS1000 #1 Originator does not hear greeting the from Call Pilot of user #C
Comments: This issue not observed with User C using CFNA (Call Forward No Answer)
Workaround: Remove CFAC (Call Forward All Calls) on User C Set. Switch to CFNA.
SIP DECT
Please note the other SIP Line Note above. The workaround is use a SIP3 license for SIP Dect.
IM/Presence Application
Presence publishing when using MADN is not supported in this release. Currently no work around
IP Media Services
The IP Media Services is fully available for trial and requires a License for the MAS Server. Please contact your Trials Support Engineer to
obtain a License based you’re your servers MAC Addresses.
IPv6
Please Contact Avaya if you desire to test IPv6.
