III. ANALYSIS AND COMMENTARIES

The above table is a clear picture of the work done for the Term by the teachers. From the
percentages of the number of hours covered, we realized that e teaching hours at all levels were no
covered .his however, accounts for the incompletion of the work programmed for the Term. The
teachers of the level of terminale however covered a 100 percent of work program inspite of the fact
that he did not each all he hour ha were supposed o have been Taught. He reason for his is ha he
decided to each only the most important and necessary items from the work programmed.

He work covered is no reflected in the performance of the learners. We notice ha here is a serious
drop in their performance as complained, to the performance of firs Term. The examination classes
have performed so badly especially 3e and 1er.

V. DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED

The drop in the performance of the learners an bee related o he fact that they started he second
Term with exams just after he distraction from the Christmas holidays.

The very short intervals for testing he learners makes hem tense and distracted. This is
because, the end to be studying other subjects in preparation for programmed test during the
English lessons.

Some learners are simply disinterested in the language and they do not even have text books
and other working materials. Most of the students do not do their homework too

the period started for harmonized exams also affected he number of hours o have been
taught as well as the program of work o be covered . This therefore can account for the drop of
performance of the learners.

The sequence system is not also respected because learners are eased when he have no done
or completed he work for each sequence.

VI. SUGGESTION FOR THE WAY FORWARD

Teachers of examination classes should give more exercises and read exam topics to prepare
the learners for their final exams.

The sequences should be followed strict to allow time to teachers to evolve in the programs
