ANSWER TO THE QUESTIONS

2.1. What are the risks a company faces when develops a new technology?
Among one of the risks is the wild tightening of international financing conditions
which could be realized if financial markets reevaluate the speed at which the central
banks of advanced economies will normalize their monetary policies, we take as an
example whether inflation in These economies increase more than expected.
Another risk is the adjustment in the operating markets, this risk has increased due
to the very high levels registered in the most important stock exchanges of the world,
as well as the very low interest rates worldwide, conditions that could change
abruptly and generate Financial stress is also taken as a risk, the increase in trade
restrictions which has increased due to protectionist inclinations in some of the most
important economies such as the United States.
Increased uncertainty in economic policy is also a risk which drastic changes in the
management of the economy that could affect investment decisions, and the
increase in geopolitical tensions, where a growth of these tensions as in the Korean
peninsula or in the Middle East, it could undermine confidence and damage
economic activity.

2.2. Is innovation a real opportunity for poverty eradication in undeveloped

countries? Why?
Innovation if it is an opportunity for poverty in the countries because as we can see,
the United Nations Millennium Project has identified practical strategies to eradicate
poverty by scaling up investments in infrastructure and human capital while
promoting gender equality and the environment sustainability The impulse is to focus
on the "platform", or generic technologies, that have a wide application or impact on
the economy, and these are identified as information and communications
technology (TIC), biotechnology, nanotechnology and new materials.

2.3 IT IS IMPORTANT FOR COLOMBIAN COMPANIES, TO PROTECT ITS

INVENTIONS?
According to FEDESARROLLO, Intellectual property is an investment, idea, product
or process that has been registered in a governmental instance, thus granting its
creator the exclusive rights to use his idea or invention for a determined period of
time. The circle of innovation is closely related to the System of Intellectual Property
Rights, especially patents, and Colombia can not be indifferent to it. Consequently,
in the design and implementation of public policies should take into account the
specific needs for institutional strengthening that the Superintendence of Industry
and Commerce (SIC) would require to face future challenges and offer
entrepreneurs the maximum use of the system patent. Intellectual Property is a
platform to facilitate negotiations, by giving certainty about intangible assets, it has
an impact on the social production of knowledge, and it turns out to be an ideal
mechanism for balancing multiple interests: that of the inventor to obtain benefits
from his invention and that of the society to benefit from the contribution of the
invention

databases, advertisements, maps, and technical drawings.
 Patents: A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention, which is a product
or a process that provides, in general, a new way of doing something, or offers a
new technical solution to a problem. To get a patent, technical information about the

such as patterns, lines or color.
 Geographical Indications: A geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on
products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a
reputation that are due to that origin. In order to function as a GI, a sign must identify
a product as originating in a given place. In addition, the qualities, characteristics or
reputation of the product should be essentially due to the place of origin. Since the
qualities depend on the geographical place of production, there is a clear link
between the product and its original place of production.

2.6. WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION SUPPORT CENTER (TISC)?

The WIPO program of technology and innovation support centers (TISC) facilitates
access by innovators from developing countries to local information services on
technology and other high-quality connection services, contributing to their
exploitation its innovative potential as they create, protect and manage their
intellectual property (IP) rights.

2.7. WHAT IS THE INVENTOR ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (IAP)?

The Inventor Assistance Program (PAI), an initiative of WIPO in cooperation with the
World Economic Forum, is the first global program of its kind. It links inventors and
small companies with scarce financial resources from developing countries with
patent attorneys who are willing to provide their legal aid services free of charge to
obtain patent protection.
CONCLUSIONS.

- The evolution of information and communication technologies, combined with

commercial or free databases on patents or technologies and the use of
analytical software to obtain a rapid and detailed analysis of patent
information has opened new perspectives for smart companies.

- It is very useful to review the thematic contents that will be studied during the
development of the course, taking into account the necessary resources for
the development of the proposed activities.
