LICKING COUNTY CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION POLICY IOV Public Session~ Licking County Conmisioners The following residential and commercial contractors are required to register with Licking County prior to starting any work within the unincorporated areas of Licking County: General Contractor Electrical Contractor HVAC Contractor Refrigeration Contractor Hydronics Contractor Those contractors involved with plumbing installation must be registered with the Licking County Health Department. Registration fees are $100.00 for each type of contractor. Registration is valid for one calendar year, with a renewal fee of $100.00 for each type of contractor. Contractors must also carry and provide proof of the following: © Minimum $500,000.00 General Liability Insurance! a Workers Compensation Certificate for businesses with one or more employee! 2 Valid Ohio Construction Industry License (OCILB) if registering as a commercial Electrical, HVAC, Refrigeration, or Hydronies Contractor. a Valid State Fire Marshall (SFM) license if registering as a Fi Contractor. e Protection ‘No Surety Bonding is required. "Subcontractors who meet any of the definitions of contractor types must also be registered, as well as have their own insurance certificates, Workers Compensation Certificate, and OCILB/SEM licenses as applicable. General contractors must report all subcontractors performing work for the General when those subcontractors meet any of the definition of contractor types that require registration, Homeowners are permitted to perform theit own work on their own property without registration, given a Homeowner Affidavit is signed. A contractor meeting one or more of the definitions of contractor types that is hired to complete any portion of the work must be registered. If the hire is made after the Homeowner Affidavit is submitted, then it is the homeowner's responsibility to notify our office of the contractor hired, and identify the specific work that contractor is performing. A homeowner may have assistance from other persons not registered, or unreported to our office, provided that no contract, written or verbal, exists between the parties involved. Companies may also use their own permanent employees to perform work within the company’s existing commercial or industrial building, given a Registration Exemp Affidavit is signed, and the company complies with the stipulations of the affidavit. Page 1 of 2 Contractors who fail to register prior to beginning any work that requires approval through Licking County Building Code Department is subject to a fine of $300.00 for cach failure to register, as allowed under R.C.307.99(C). Definitions of Contractor Types General: A general contractor is @ company or individual, hired by the owner of the building or property, who is responsible for the overall coordination of the project, including providing all of the material labor, equipment and services necessary for the construction of the project, and hiring subcontractors to perform all or a portion of the work. The term ‘General Contractor’ includes those operating as a Construction Manager, Construction Manager At-Risk, and Design-Build Firm, Electrical: Those persons, businesses ot companies that provide services to install, repair or replace electrical apparatus or appurtenances within or about a building structure or specific location, HIVAC: Those persons, businesses or companies that provide services to install, repair or replacing heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, Type I or Type Il kitchen hoods, and/or gas piping and electrical work associated with the HVAC system, within a building Reftigeration: Those persons, businesses of companies that provide services to install, repair or replace systems that vaporize and liquefy a fluid used for refrigeration storage systems and other components attached. Hydronics: Those persons, businesses or companies that provide services to install, repair ‘or replace fluid, steam or gas pressure piping systems within a structure. Fire Protection: Those persons, businesses or companies that provide services to install, repair, test and replace fire or security detection equipment, reporting devices, fire sprinklers and piping, stand pipes, fire suppression equipment and suppression hoods. "Provide a copy of your current State of Ohi License Plumbing Contractors must obtain registration through the Licking County Health Department. Fee for each Contractor Type registration and renewal is $100.00. Registration is valid for one calendar year. Failure to obtain approved registration prior to starting work within the unincorporated areas of Licking County, or performing work for a project that has not obtained its Certificate of Plan Approval, may result in a $300.00 penalty as outlined in Licking County Resolution Company Name/DBA License Holder Name Adaress P.O.
