Barrie the author happens to be a defense specialist with an abundance of education to
back it up.
● Reflect: This article is linked to my topic by providing information about this specific
strategy during war times.

the advancing of UAV technology and to argue their use. Some of the articles in her book

biased against the use of military UAVs.
● Reflect: Her anti-drone views adds to my article by adding to the argument, as the
opposing views.

● Assess: The article has no listed article but it is from the government website supported
by the Department of Homeland Security. This article is also biased to support the use of
UAVs as it would play big factor in surveillance of many factors for this department.

● Reflect: It is important to understand the various countermeasures that an opponent
would have to use to take down a UAV or avoid their surveillance. The importance of
keeping our technology ahead of these countermeasures.

agencies. There is a bias in support of operating UAVs.
● Reflect: This site adds to my research by supporting what regulations are in place and
who is beside setting them. This helps add that the UAV usage is thought out and
watched so any safety concerns will be addressed.

in loss of the UAV, by destruction, or seizure. There are also criminal charges that could
be enforced if the regulations and restrictions are not followed.
● Assess: FAA is government site, no author is listed. It is endorsed by government
agencies. There is a bias in support of operating UAVs.
● Reflect: This article has important information about how UAVs can impact local
military. Also what actions can be taken to avoid these negative impacts.

reference guide for all to know when and how it is safe to operate UAS.
● Assess: The brochure is available to anyone who picks it up. It supports the educated use
of UAVs. Facts about state and local regulations to safely navigate your UAV. No author
present but it is developed and distributed by the Florida Department of Transportation;
and it is endorsed by the FAA.
● Reflect: This brochure is great for new and experienced UAV operators. It gives easy
access to the regulations for quick reference if there is any questions. The easy read
factual information is easy to agree with.

it holds. It is filled with useful information and the necessary information for become a

● Assess: Bob Gardner is a veteran and Dr. Ison has been in aviation for more than thirty
years. They are biased in support of the use of UAVs, s they have been involved with
military and aviation.
● Reflect:The article helps to understand the process of becoming a new pilot and to
highlight how much it actually takes to legally operate these machines.

mostly opinionated articles. Current articles has no citation. The article is biased in
support of using UAVs in police departments.
● Reflect: The benefits of using UAVs in police departments, while addressing some of the
concerns is also important. Our local police departments are important in the safety for
the safety of our people on a day to day basis. They are first in line if something happens
within the states (whether during war or not).

● Summary: Humberto gonzalez, PhD is assistant professor in the Department of Electrical


and systems Engineering. Discussing various studies of drones like, flying indoors. Being
able to autonomously fly drones in doors would be a huge benefit in the world of
technology. Also, some discussion of laws or ethics in drone use.
● Assess: The author notes various studies and information listed from multiple educated
individuals. Also it is listed on a university website, which should be credible.
● Reflect: The information is pretty useful. It gives a broad view of many aspects of the
technology that goes into the code that runs the drones. This is important to
understanding how the UAVs function. Understanding the technology and the control

manufacturers have over the tech is important in deciding the benefits and negative of the
UAV use.

● Assess: FAA is government site, it is geared toward giving factual information. Citations
are not listed. The cite is biased in support of UAV operation and proper regulations of
use.
● Reflect: Efficiently explaining the regulations that are being added allows the readers to
understand that UAVs are being monitored. They are not being flone “willy nilly” by
anyone who is able to purchase them.

● Reflect: This article is pro-drones. It is also non-biased. The author is factual giving more
facts that their personal opinion. The way the things are worded you can tell they do not
oppose advancement with drone technology.

● Assess: The types of UAVs available are important as each one has a different
functionality. The uses of surveillance UAVs versus combat UAVs are on two different
sides of the spectrum.

what we do today. Faster and earlier detection of UAVs can be useful in defenses and
offensive maneuvers and or safety.

military. What could happen with long-term drone use in other countries? The general
facts about drones and some of the particular uses.
● Reflect: The author of this article did a good job touching on factual information, but also
gave their opinion. The author is against long-term use of drones for war.
● Assess: This article highlights the effects UAVs have on people when used for war. It
gives a clear view of some long term effects.
