 Characteristic of short story: The Tale Of Johnny Town Mouse

Definition of Characteristic

A character is a person or other being in a narrative. The character may be entirely fictional or
based on a real life person, in which case the distinction of a “fictional” versus “real” character
may be made.

Types of Characteristic

There’s 3 kind of characteristic they are:

1. Physiology
Physiology is the scientific study of the functions and mechanisms which work within
a living system. Historically, physiology is one of the main foundations on which all
the biological and medical sciences have been built.
2. Psychology
Psychology is the science of behavior and mind, including concious and unconscious
phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense
scope and diverse interest that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the
emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest.
3. Sociology
Sociology is the scientific study of society, patterns of social interaction, and culture of
everyday life. It is a social science that uses various methods of empirical investigation
and critical analysis to develop a body of knowledge about social order, acceptance,
and change or social evolution.

CHARACTER ANALYZING

Based on the short story entitled The Tale Of Johnny Town-Mouse we found there are eleven
character.

1. Timotimous William (Timmy Willie)

Based on the kind of character we would analyze the character by:
  Physiology
Based on the text “Timmy Willie was born in a garden” which means his
physiology was born in a garden and he is a village-small mouse.
 Psychology
Based on the text “All the dishes were unknown to Timmy Willie, who would
have been a little afraid of tasting them; only he was very hungry, and very
anxious to behave with company manners” which means his psychology was
easy to get nervous in any situation.
Based on the text “Timmy Willie learnt with horror that they were being chased
by the cat” which means his another psychology was very coward.
 Sociology
Based on the text “Up jumped the cook on a chair, exclaiming "A mouse! a
mouse! Call the cat! Fetch me the poker, Sarah!" which means his sociology
was an obedient.

2. Jhonny Town
Based on the kind of character we would analyze the character by:
 Physiology
Based on the text “Johnny Town-mouse was born in a cupboard” which means
his physiology was born in a cupboard and he is a town mouse.
 Psychology
Based on the text “With the utmost politeness he introduced Timmy Willie to
nine other mice, all with long tails and white neckties” which means his
psychology was lovivg to help each other.
 Sociology
Based on the text “"Who in the world is this?" inquired Johnny Town-mouse.
But after the first exclamation of surprise he instantly recovered his manners”
which means his sociology was easy to get along to other mice.
