Consideration of Learners:
How have you responded to your diverse learners? Consider UDL (Multiple means of Engagement, Representation,
Action & Expression) & principles of differentiation. If appropriate, identify individual accommodations you will make
in response to needs or interests of students.
- representation- students watch a video that Korean students introduce about Korean culture
- Engagement- students come up with one thing that is unique about American culture
- Expression- students take time to think about what they are going to share about American culture and
record a video that introduces American culture
DOMAIN 2: THE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
COVENANT MANAGEMENT: Relationship & community building (Note any specific ways in which you plan to build or
strengthen relationships and community: student-student & teacher - student.]
- Students represent their own country and introduce one thing that is unique about American culture.
CONDUCT MANAGEMENT: (Behavioral expectations, strategies to encourage self- regulation, etc.)
Identify at least 2 ways you will gain whole group attention:
- One, two, three eyes on me
- Asking if they are self-controlling their body and their words.
- Remind them the class rules and how they are following those rules.
Strategies you intend to use to redirect individual students:
- Non-verbal signal
CONTENT MANAGEMENT: Note procedures/routines that are expected or embedded.
- n/a
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Note any specific ways you will use the environment to contribute to the learning.
- Smartboard for the video
- Students sit in their table groups
DOMAIN 3: INSTRUCTION
CONTENT MANAGEMENT: YOUR INSTRUCTION
Motivation/Opening/Intro: [Think creatively about how to recruit learning.]
- Introduce the video that they will be watching
o Announce that there are group of students who want to tell you about their own culture
o Tell them that after watching a video, we will also introduce them our own culture
o After watching the video, have students share one thing that they learned about the culture
Development: [It may help to number your steps with corresponding times.]
- What is American culture?
o Explain that the students from the video just shared about some special things in their own culture
o Discuss with the students about American culture and have them come up with one thing that they
want to share about American culture, give examples: the holidays that Americans celebrate, foods that
we eat during special holidays
- Introduce American culture video
o Divide students into 4 groups
o Have each group record a video that introduces about American culture
o Each group will gather in the carpet at a time and record a video under the teacher’s assistance
o Rest of the students who are not recording will stay quiet and finish their paper doll’s activity
Closure: (Be creative and consider authentic audiences for the work. Think beyond giving an assignment or
independent practice.)
- Wrap-up
o Students turn their paper dolls in
o Students share one thing they learned about culture and how we can celebrate each other’s similarities
and differences
o Remind them that a good citizen respect all cultures around the world
