What is an important aspect of teacher’s authority?

It implies that as the teachers' authority level increases, the students learning ranks in
higher level in the studied society. Classroom is a preliminary stage for educational
activities and it is a position for preparing people for living in a changing world.
Why do we need rules and procedures?
Policies are important because they help a school establish rules and proceduresand
create standards of quality for learning and safety, as well as expectations and
accountability. Without these, schools would lack the structure and function necessary
to provide the educational needs of students.
What 2 aspects are very important in a lesson to establish authority?
The Importance of Authority. All primary and secondary characteristics of a state
are important to its success, but the most important characteristic is having a

stateauthority. It is vital to the survival of an ancient state to have a central system for
decision-making that can also enforce those decisions.
It is important for lessons to start ________________.
 Start with a Video. Everyone loves a good video, especially kids.
 Start with an Object. Another way to get your students wondering about a topic is
to show them objects related to the content.

While it is part of good rapport between teacher and pupils for some social
__society___________ to take place, the need for the teacher to establish __her work____
quickly must take _____time_________.
How should students exit?
Exit cards are similar to entry cards in that students have a specific amount of time to
complete them, and that teachers use them as a quick assessment tool. Exit cards
are designed to collect feedback about a lesson from students. It’s meant to check for
student understanding at the end of class. They are helpful in prompting students to
fuse the information learned in class. An example of an exit card, or as some call
them exit “Tickets” or “Slips,” are to ask a student to summarize the key points of the
lesson. Teachers use exit cards to verify the students can solve a problem, to allow
students to ask any questions they may have about what they just learned, to see if
students can apply the content just learned in a new way, or to have students
demonstrate what they just learned.
What is the simplest way to ensure an orderly exit?
Create and exit cards for the students.
What must teacher regulate during the lesson?

1. ways do what you believe to be best for your students. They should always be
your number one priority. Think, how does this benefit my students? If that
question is difficult to answer, you may want to reconsider.
2. Focus on establishing meaningful, cooperative relationships. Building strong
relationships with your students, peers, administrators, and parents will
ultimately make your job easier.

4

3. Never bring your personal problems or issues into the classroom. Leave them
at home. Your students should never know when something at home is
bothering you.

How is effective teaching facilitated?

Effective teachers strive to motivate and engage all their students in learningrather
than simply accepting that some students cannot be engaged and are destined to do
poorly. They believe every student is capable of achieving success at school and they
do all they can to find ways of making each student successful.

What are pupils sensitive to?

Benefits of participation are often described in terms of the development of
individualvoices. Pupils gain in self-confidence when listened to and when taken
seriously. It is important that pupils are supported to enable them to listen to each
other and to others in the school community, including parents.

Almost every classroom activity has a ____roles___________ for pupils to challenge the
teacher’s authority and ___student_______ over behavior.
List some activities where teacher could lose control.
Playing in the corners.
What is a major issue related to control?
Classroom Management Techniques
Explain what a teacher needs to do to manage this.
 Get prepared. You must be prepared each time that you walk into your class
room.

 Make your room attractive.

 Set classroom rules.

 Be enthusiastic about your lessons.

 Be fair with your students.

What does a teacher need to do continually?
Teachers create lesson plans and teach those plans to the entire class, individually to
students or in small groups, track student progress and present the information to
parents, create tests, create and reinforce classroom rules, work with school
administration prepare students for standardized tests, and manage the class.

PART 2:

Task 4-A: My Effective Classroom Rules

From your teaching practice experience you will analyze, in a short report, how you
formulated appropriate classroom rules. Reflect on the effectiveness of these classroom
rules. Explain how you taught and implemented these rules in the classroom.

Paragraph 1

Give an introduction about classroom management – classroom rules

Classroom management is a collection of techniques that teachers use to encourage

effective learning by minimizing distractions and disruptions. Classroom management can
often be a neglected part of a teacher’s training. Even if classroom management is covered
in a teacher-training course, new teachers may not be prepared to deal with all the real-
life challenges of the classroom. A teacher can have great lesson plans and materials.
However, if a teacher cannot manage her/his class, effective learning will not happen.

During TP I made some classroom rules for my lesson. (combined) My rules were

7
EPC 2403 Teaching Practicum 2a

1. Listen to the teacher / adult.

2. Listen to others.
3. Put your hand up if you want to speak / answer.

Why did you create these rules?

Manage Behavior

Have a good balance of discipline and humor with the children.

In order to gain their respect, you need to convey your genuine enjoyment to be with
them. My students understand I am sometimes tough on them because I care enough to
wish they try harder and get better. I also manage to find a way to show I care in some
meaningful way. Humor is important to have for your own perspective and for the children.
It keeps the days lively and enjoyable.
According to Fredrick Jones (2000): theory is a non-adversarial method which

requires that teacher’s help students learn to develop self-control. By employing

appropriate body language, making use of an incentive system and efficiently
assisting pupils, teachers help students control themselves. Learning self-control
empowers students and prepares them for the future.
Paragraph 2
How did you teach and implemented these rules in the classroom.
Classroom management plans are written guides for how to operate a classroom. Students
might refer to them as "The Rules." One key to implementing a classroom management plan
is to post the rules in a visible location, and rules should be kept simple. Another important
part of classroom management is assigning responsibilities among class members. This is to
make sure the students feel like part of the classroom. Also of importance is keeping a
routine. Routine allows children to know what is expected and helps the day run smoothly.
Classroom management plans will run smoothly with good, consistent instruction.
Post rules where students can see them. This acts as a reminder for expected

behavior.
Present the rules to the students. Students should be given the consequences for

8
EPC 2403 Teaching Practicum 2a

breaking rules as well as the benefits of following the rules. It is a good idea to send a copy of
this or the entire classroom management plan home with students so parents can see
expectations and consequences as well.
Tour the classroom with the students. Depending on class and classroom size, there may or
may not be a need to actually get out of seats and tour the room. The teacher can go over
each area of importance in the classroom. For example, one area might be used for students'
bags, another is the place to turn in papers and another is the location of the pencil
sharpener. It is important to share all the details of how to handle daily life in the classroom.
The younger the children, the more importance there is in explaining the purpose of each
area. Big signs or posters may help remind students of the purpose of each area of the
classroom.
Paragraph 3
How did the rules help you to be effective? Why do teachers need rules
First, rules are important because they tend to protect the weaker class in the society
as they might be disadvantaged if rules are broken. When rules are used in the right
way they provide a stable environment and human co-existent in a country, which
leads to peace and development.
