• Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the Natural Approach, and organized
through the PPP procedure (Harmer,2010).
• Materials and resources: Boxes, Little balloons, crepe paper, glue, photocopies
Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, we will not use video and audio
devices. Commented [A1]: Try to use them, learners love listening to
music and watching videos.
• Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting in a circle on the floor in order to
facilitate visual contact and interaction within the group. At some points in the lesson,
they’ll move around the class. And then sit on chairs around a table.
• Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll check that students comprehend
and identify the different colours. I`ll point out a colour and they have to say what
colour is itit is in loud voice. I’ll provide them with the necessary input, and I’ll
encourage them to produce the chunks of language I’m teaching.
Routine: 5’
Purpose: to start the lesson, get students into the mood for work, establish rapport.
I’ll get into the classroom and greet students: “Hello! How are you today?” EA: “Hello!”
I’ll ask students to sit in a circle on the floor and we’ll sing the usual welcome song:
I`ll show them three boxes. One red, the other blue and the last one yellow. In
the boxes there are little colours balloons. I`ll create mystery simulating that I will not
open the box.
Presentation 10’:
Now, we open the boxes and I´ll show them the little balloons. I´ll present the colours
by singing a song.
“This is red, the colour red, red , red , red do you know what colour is this? This is red

Development 10’:
Activity 1:
I´ll put the boxes on the floor and they have to classify the little balloons in the
different boxes.
Closure 10 min-Activity 2:
The students may work on the tables. They may stick mini balls of crepe paper and Commented [A3]: Is this a possibility?

paste them in a balloon (photocopy). We may use colour green.
Commented [A4]: Again, is this a possibility?
Commented [A5]: Will everyone use the same colour?
I think you may assign different colours to different learners. So a
group of students can make red balloons, another group may work
on green balloons, and a third group can make yellow balloons. You
could use those balloons to decorate the classroom walls, and to
recycle colours/numbers in future lessons.
Then “Oh, no! Look at the time” (pointing to the clock on the wall). It’s time to say goodbye! Commented [A6]: Keep an eye on timing. Everybody should

Make sure you use L2 at all times, and do encourage students to use the target language. While
they are working on the balloons, you could play some music. ;)

with the resources. You may ask students to put the pictures in the

This lesson is rather incomplete, Gastón. I like the idea of working with different pictures and
classifying them according to their colours. But what will come next? Think of more activities
students can carry out to reinforce learning. If you are planning to give them a worksheet, you
must include it in your lesson plan. Make sure it is really worthwhile – I mean, use class time
wisely.
You may look for a nice video song, especially one that implies some TPR. Or you can design a
game-like activity, such as a memory game.
