The U.S. Meat Export Federation makes it simple for our member
companies to update their contact information by giving them the ability
to revise their profile online so contact information and product lists are
always up to date. In addition, individual contacts within a company can
also edit their own information as desired.

Dear Members:
ince opening its doors in 1976, USMEF has helped members
S export U.S. beef, pork and lamb to emerging and established

markets across the world. USMEF identified promising and
challenging markets in the 1980s and 1990s and is still doing so in the
21st century. Exports are exponentially larger than they were in 1976,
thanks to our funding sources, our partnership with the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, and the hard work of members like you.
Thanks to USMEF efforts, USDA and the support of the beef, pork,
lamb, corn, sorghum, and soybean checkoff programs, 13.1 percent of
U.S. beef production was sold to consumers outside our borders in 2003
and more than 12 percent of U.S. pork production in 2005. More than
360 million bushels of feedgrain and soy products were exported
through value added exports of U.S. beef, lamb and pork in 2003.
Unfortunately, the bans on U.S. beef imports due to a lone case of BSE
reduced our beef exports by 75 percent in 2004 and the feedgrain and
soybean figure fell to a still substantial 234 million bushels.
This directory is first and foremost a tool for improved communication within
our industry. We want you to achieve all that you can achieve in the
global marketplace, and this little booklet will help you get in touch
with our Denver and international staff. We encourage you to contact
us for help, advice and information. We also recommend you refer
daily to our Web site, www.usmef.org, which is our primary means of
communication with our members.

products in targeted export markets through a dynamic
partnership of all stakeholders.

demand for value added products and the complete
range of red meat items, especially those that are
underutilized in the U.S. market.
2. Trade Support: Gather and disseminate market

intelligence and facilitate contact between U.S.
exporters and targeted buyers in export markets.
3. Buyer Education and Loyalty: Educate targeted buyers

in export markets on the attributes of U.S. red meat
and red meat products and build buyer loyalty to
products exported from the United States.
4. Market Presence: Increase the presence of U.S. red

meat and red meat products in the HRI and retail
sectors in targeted export markets.
5. Product Image: Establish positive images for U.S. beef,

pork and lamb with consumers in targeted export
markets.
