Main topic
Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles
Using Plant Extract
6
Notes
• The synthesis of silver nanoparticles depend on phenolic content of different plant sources.
Ag+ reduction Ag0
• Different parameters like temperature, time, pH, etc. influence the size and shape of silver
nanoparticles.
• Antimicrobial activity of AgNPs can be studied using Well diffusion assay.
• Applications :
1. Effluent treatment process (for reducing the microbial load)[7]
2. Wound dressing
7
Methodology
Reduction of the Ag+ ions was monitored by measuring the ultraviolet-visible spectrum
of the solution at regular intervals on a spectrophotometer operating at a resolution of 1
nm.
The effects of temperature on the rate of synthesis and size of the prepared silver
nanoparticles were studied by carrying out the reaction in a water bath at particular
temperature with reflux.
