CRITICAL ANALYSIS

The poem, “Tipik lamang sa kagahapon” by famed Filipino poet Melchor U. Yburan is a
depressive personal dedication because the author describe the scenario of a person being alone
in a big world, but with bittersweet feel. The poem was published year 2017, month of June 26 in
Liwayway Magazine. The main ideas of the poem, “Tipik lamang sa kagahapon” to portrays a
life of a person living with a ghost of his past life.this poem is a descriptive metaphor type of
poem.The poem is a free verse poem—there is no set rhyme scheme or meter. Overall it is a
serious poem, solemn, echoing a voice in the wilderness.

The poem “Tipik lamang sa Kagahapon” describes the settings of the poem the same in a
home without someone living. The only things can be seen are the blank space of furniture, with
every corner inch of the house wrap with spider webs. A shattered mirrors with a glace of past

understand. Even if some words are so familiar but there are some instances in the lines that the
poem is too cold and tricky to understand and need to translate it in Bisaya and Filipino language
in order to understand the main idea of the poem.

On other hand, the story is not quite so far from my life. Some of the events happen in the
story was I already experienced. And I think this typical poem is very realistic, in the sense of
some mentioned scenario of the poem could happen to us no matter where we are, we can
experience some of the line in the poems. For example in 3rd stanza, “On my return, this room
only knew, in the past days. And here: I see myself; Resurrected to dreams, resurrected. That's
just one nook of Yesterday”. The way the speaker tells the line is very momentum. As he glare
on every corner of his existence, he knew that he was just all alone and still living on his past
remains.
It was very Even though the poem was so depressive, the speaker achieved he’s goal in
getting the emotional attention of the reader. As for my part, it deeply penetrates to my soul the
emotions of the poem. The poem “Tipik lamang sa Kagahapon” was so genuine at sensitive. It
well touches your soul as if you are in his position.
