SUMMARY OF USER NEEDS AND FEATURES

Our research thus far reveals the following key takeaways, as discussed in the affini-
ty mapping results document, which is attached at the end our formal proposal:

1. People are intrinsically motivated by their personal passions.

2. Friendships influence decision making.
3. Personal values dictate user priorities.
4. Accessibility is vital to event attendance.
5. Technology is a useful tool when it comes to planning.

The decisions users make always come down to their priorities, which stem from
personal values and vary person to person. To account for this, we enable all users
to input their priorities as a profile creation step. Users are reminded of them when
they are making the decision to commit to an event. Some users are more motivat-
ed by money than others, so event organizers have the option to charge a refund-
able deposit to ensure that those who commit to attending will. We also integrate
the user’s calendar into the app and utilize push notifications so that “I forgot” is
never an excuse. Lastly, we created the concept of an ‘accountability score,’ which
represents how accountable a user is (e.g. how many events they attended out of
how many they said they would attend.) All of these features are intended to en-
courage invitees to make better, lasting decisions. As for organizers specifically,
we provide a dashboard of information that will facilitate and inform their planning
process and preparation.
