On March 6, 2012, I was in Stone County, Missouri, assisting with the Inissing person investigation. As a result, I assisted in the processing or the | residence and conducted a blood stain pattern analysis. 2. On March 6, 2012, at approximately 1945 hours, I was in Stone County, Missouri, assisting with the missing person investigation. As a result, I was asked to conauct an inspection of the bedroom of located at : 3. Upon the execution of a state search warrant, T began a visual inspection ‘of the bedroom of ‘As I entered the bedroom, I immediately noticed that the entry door into the bedroom was new, along with the hinges on the door. Once inside the bedroom, I noticed the baseboard of the bedroom was missing and notices the smell of new carpet. The carpet also visually appeared to be new. On the west side of the bedroom, I noticed a double window that also appeared to be new and was missing the window trim. In the middle of the bedroom ceiling there was a ceiling fan that appeared to be missing the motor housing cover. I then asked Stone county Deputy Shawn Fields who was designated as the photography officer to take some overview photographs of the room. 4. As I conducted a more thorough inspection, I noticed several areas of the ceiling appeared to have been cleaned and wiped with an object. I could clearly see that an object had been used to remove some of the ceiling texture and that this texture had been replaced. This replaced texture did not match the rest of the original ceiling texture. 5. During this inspection of the ceiling, I noticed what appeared to be hlmerous small impact stains on the coiling and the blades of the ceiling fan. 1 then conducted a presumptive test on several of these apparent stains using filter paper and Leucomalachite Green (LMG). These initial stains all tested positive for bleed. 1 then began to take representative samples of the stains on various parts of the ceiling and conducted @ presumptive test on these apparent stains using filter paper and Leucomalachite Green (LNG). All the stains tested positive for blood. 6. I then began the process of visually identifying as many stains as possible and marking the stains by using permanent black marker. During this process, hundreds of stains were located on the west, northwest and southwest side of the bedroom ceiling. I also located two (2) very small stains on a photograph that was seated on a piece of furniture in the northwest side of the bedroom. 1. As I conducted a more intense examination of the blood stains, 1 noticed there was an area to the west, northwest of the ceiling fan that contained numerous small impact stains, less than 1 mm in size. These stains appeared to be in the 80 to 90 degree range. For explanation, I will refer to this general region as area A. I further noticed there were stains directly south Of this location that appeared to be traveling in @ southward direction. T based this directionality on the spines and scallops of the stains. These stains were also less than 1 mm in size and were much more angled than the area near the ceiling tan, ranging in size from 30 to 70 degrees. 8. 1 subsequently located further stains that appeared to be traveling in @ direction north of area A. These impact stains appeared to be 1 mm or smaller in size and ranged from 30 to 70 degrees. Immediately southwest of the ceiling fan, I also located several impact stains. These stains appear to be traveling in’a south/southeast direction and appeared to be 1 mm or less in size and ranged in angle from 20 to 60 degrees. 9. Upon completing the identification process, T took representative samples of various stains in various locations of the ceiling and ceiling fan. These samples were taken by using Kendall Sterile Single Tipped Applicators, lot number 1006227, with an expiration date of March 2015. By using the applicators and sterile water, I was able te obtain samples of the various dried blood stains. 10. I then began removing several items from the bedroom that would allow me ro remove the carpet and carpet padding for inspection. As we moved the bed, I noticed the ceiling fan motor housing cover under the bed. Upon conducting an inspection of the housing, I located what appeared to be several small impact stains. I also discovered a bag that contained a sponge. This sponge appeared to have been used and was covered in matorials that would be consistent with the new texture from the celling. This sponge also contained darker areas in the sponge that would need to be tested for the presence of blood. In the bag with the sponge, I discovered a can of Kilz stain remover and primer. I seized these items as evidence. 11. During the inspection of the underneath side of the carpet and carpet pad, I realized both the carpet and carpet pad appeared to be new. I then Searched for bleod stains on the base floor of the residence, but did not locate any stains. 12. As we prepared to leave the residence, I released the items seized as evidence Exom the residence to Stone County Deputy Shawn Fields. 13. ‘This investigation is continuing. D. F.
