A QUESTIONNAIRE ON THE TEACHERS’ PERCEPTION ON THE

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT IN


THE PRIMARY ESL CLASSROOM
This research questionnaire is done by an IPGKIK teacher trainee who aims to figure out the
teachers' perceptions on the implementation of the School Based Assessment (SBA) in the
primary ESL classroom. It contains SIX sections which are Section A, B, C, D, E and F. Please
answer all questions based on your experience in conducting the SBA.

Teacher’s Readiness

1. I have been exposed with the concept of SBA in the ESL primary classroom from the
circulars letter given by the Ministry of Education

2. I have been exposed with the concept of SBA in the ESL primary classroom through
workshops.

3. I have been exposed with the concept of SBA in the ESL primary classroom from
sharing sessions with my colleagues.

4. I have been exposed with the concept of SBA in the ESL primary classroom from my
own reading.

5. I have good understanding of the requirement of SBA in the ESL primary classroom.

6. I have good understanding of the procedure in conducting SBA in the ESL primary
classroom.

Ability to implement The SBA
1. I can implement the SBA effectively in the ESL primary classroom.

2. I can explain the criteria of the SBA to my pupils.

3. I can assess my pupils according to the criteria specified for SBA.

4. I can build evidence for the SBA in my assessment procedure.

5. I plan the SBA before implement it in the English Language classroom.

6. I refer to the test specification table to construct the test items for the SBA.

7. I carry out the assessment of the SBA with the pupils when they are ready.

8. I score the assessment according to the marking scheme provided.

9. I analyse the results and use it for improvement of learning and instruction.

10. I report the results of the assessment to the pupils.

11. I report the results of the assessment to the parents/ guardians.

IMPLICATIONS OF SBA
SBA helps me to assess the pupils holistically.
