Macintosh OS X Feature Update

If you just purchased your printer, the printer software CD-ROM in the box contains
additional Macintosh OS X features that were not covered in the rest of your printer
documentation.
If you downloaded this software, please note that it contains additional Macintosh
OS X features that were not covered in the rest of your printer documentation.
■ Your printer can now use the following features in Mac® OS X 10.1.3 or higher:
■ Borderless printing
■ Roll paper printing (and automatic cutting on certain printers)
■ Minimized margin printing
Follow the instructions below to add and use these printing features.
■ If your printer includes a memory card slot for transferring pictures from a digital
camera storage card, your software now includes the necessary storage drivers for
use with Mac OS X 10.2.x. Follow the instructions in your printer
documentation to use storage cards with your printer.

Adding Printer Features on OS X


Make sure you’ve installed your printer software and added your printer as described
in your printer documentation. Then make sure that your printer is turned on and
connected to your Macintosh. Follow these steps:
1. Open your OS X Applications folder, then open the Utilities folder and select
Print Center. You see the Printer List shown on page 2.
If your printer is shown in the list, go to step 2.
If your printer isn’t listed, make sure it is turned on and connected to your
Macintosh. Click Add or Add Printer, then go to step 4.
2. Click the printer name.

3. Click the Add or Add Printer button. You see another window listing your
printer.

4. Click the printer name. The Page Setup pull-down menu at the bottom of the
screen becomes active.
5. Open the Page Setup pull-down menu and select All.

Note: Some of the features shown above may not be available for your printer or
for all versions of the Mac OS.

6. Click the Add button. You see the Printer List again with all your printer features
available.

7. Close Print Center. When you’re ready to use the printer features, see the next
section.

Using Printer Features with OS X


1. Open an application and create your print job.
2. When you’re ready to print, select Page Setup from the File menu.
3. Open the Format for pull-down menu and select the feature for your printer,
such as Stylus Photo 960(Roll Paper).

4. Select your paper (or image) size and any other necessary settings, then click OK.
Caution: When printing borderless photos, select one of the supported paper
sizes listed in your printer documentation; never select a custom or unsupported
paper size or ink may spray inside your printer.

When printing non-borderless print jobs using a custom paper size, make sure the
selected size matches the paper you loaded and is within the printable area for
your printer. For example, never choose a paper size wider than your printer’s
sheet feeder or longer than your paper length.

5. Select Print from the File menu.


6. Open the Printer pull-down menu and select the same feature for your printer
that you chose in the Page Setup window.

Note: Always select the same setting as the Format for option in the Page Setup
window and the Printer option in the Print window. If the settings are different,
you may get unexpected results.

7. Select your media type and any other necessary print settings, then click Print.
