THE RUSSELL REPORT Nov.

9, 2018

Dear Friends and Partners in this ministry:

We just had our mid-term elections and the campaign ads ran rampant! What
would you think of an ad that said, “Choose Christ. You’ll have to renounce
everything you have to be His disciple!” Christ said that in Luke 14:33. Or the ad
that says, “Choose to live for Christ and you’ll be persecuted!” Paul said that in
2Tim. 3:12. Christ and Paul probably would not be very popular on an advertising
campaign. The ride might be bumpy but the payoff of living for Christ is better
than anything we could think or imagine (Eph. 3:20). What is God calling you to
surrender for Him today? What we give up to follow Him does not compare to
what He did for us! We desperately need short-term and long-term help on the
mission field in so many different kinds of ministries. Are you willing to surrender
and go?

The past several months have been like a whirlwind for us. One of the things we Scott sharing the gospel in
have done is gone around to some of our supporting churches and report. This is Spanish with professional
somewhat of a “furlough year”. Thank you to those churches that have invited us to baseball players in the dugout.
come and share. If your church has not had us in yet to report on the ministry, please contact us and we will get it on
the calendar. We have also been in a few new churches and we
thank God for the new ministry partners He has brought into our
lives. In our last prayer letter, we were $540 under-supported each
month. We have gained some new support but lost some other
support due to diminishing church budgets and retired supporters
having to cut back on their financial resources. As of today, we
are $407 under-supported each month. Please pray that God might
bring in the balance of our monthly shortage. If you would like to
give and join our ministry-support team, you can go to this link
and it will walk you through the process. All gifts are tax-

We have also stayed busy with training opportunities. We have helped to train prospective missionaries, new
missionaries, and veteran missionaries. We are grateful to God that He allows us to have a part in what He is doing
throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. My ministry as Spanish Chaplain to professional baseball players has
continued this past baseball season. It is a great opportunity
to share the gospel with a group of people that few
Christians have access to. Please pray that the gospel seeds
continue to take root. Some plant, others water, but God
gives the increase (1Cor. 3:6-7).

Nikki and I enjoyed our 40th wedding anniversary this year

(July 15). We were too busy in the midst of very busy days
at the time, so we didn’t really celebrate until the end of
Aug. and first of Sept. We traveled to Ohio to spend it with With missionaries from Latin America & the Caribbean

football game. We have 8 grandchildren now and our 9th is
on the way. Luke and Ellen are expecting their first baby in April. We are very excited for them and for us!
A major event that occupied much of our time this past quarter was
the socio-political crisis in Nicaragua. Much of the country rose up in
protest against the president’s leadership. Things continued to escalate
to the point that over 400 were killed by para-military groups, police,
and strong-arm Sandinistas. Due to the crisis, our missionaries living
and serving there were evacuated. We were able to give them
clearance to return to the field as of Oct. 1 now that things have calmed
down. Because of the crisis, our Ministry Center which houses our
Church Planters Institute and Camp Ministry has suffered huge
financial loss. If we do not raise enough funds to get them through this
difficulty, we are in danger of losing this Ministry Center. We need
your help. We must raise $48,000 for this ministry as soon as possible
in order to stay afloat and get past the critical time. If you would like

Thank you for your prayerful consideration.

In just a few weeks, we will be making a trip to Northern Brazil where we

will participate in a Pastors/Missionary Conference for nationals. Many
pastors from Venezuela will cross their border to come to this conference
and we will also be with many Brazilian pastors and missionaries. The
plans are for me to teach a course on evangelism/discipleship to some 80
Venezuelan pastors, and speak on Challenges and Opportunities for
Services in Latin America to the Brazilian pastors and missionaries. Please
pray for our safety and for a fruitful ministry.

From our family to yours, have a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful

Christ-filled Christmas! Thanks for remembering us in your prayers and
financial gifts. We love you and thank God for you! Having dinner with new missionaries to
Chile and Jamaica during our Field Prep
Training Seminar.

Thanks for praying,
