How were Americans impacted by world war ll?

World War II was the biggest and deadliest war in history, involving more than 30
countries. Sparked by the 1939 Nazi invasion of Poland, the war dragged on for six bloody
years until the Allies defeated Nazi Germany and Japan in 1945. Many american were impacted
by World war 2, both overseas and back at home.
First, The american Civilian lives were impacted because as shown Picture B from unit 1
world war 2 images, The caption states “ Save your cans help pass ammunition…Prepare your
cans for war.” This evidence shows how they were trying to persuade american civilians to save
cans so they could be used and recycled to make ammunation for soldiers to use in war. Also In
these same world war 2 images, image letter E caption says, “ America needs your scrap
rubber.” This evidence shows how they were trying to persuade americans to save their rubber,
so that it could also be used in war. These images show that the american civilians were
impacted by the war, using propaganda.
Second, The soldiers lives were impacted during world war 2 as well, considering they
were the ones fighting the war. As stated in the document titled, “ African Americans In world
war ll” it states, “ African Americans served bravely and with distinction in every theater of World
War II, while simultaneously struggling for their own civil rights from “the world’s greatest
democracy.” This evidence shows that black troops were getting treated less than any other
troops that fought in the war, which shows how they were impacted by world war ll. Also in
document 7 of the stop and jots it shows a image of men sitting down on the field and they look
injured and in the source it states “ American assault troops of the 16th Infantry Regiment,
injured while storming Omaha Beach, wait by the Chalk Cliffs for evacuation to a field hospital
for further medical treatment. Collville-sur-Mer, Normandy.” This evidence shows that the
casualties were high at the time considering the soldiers lacked proper medical care while they
fought in war.
In conclusion, The American soldiers and the American Civilians were impacted from
world war ll in many different ways. The american civilians saved resources for the soldiers to
use in the war and this includes items like rubber and cans, also some of the american soldiers
faced racism and lacked the proper medical care which shows that both soldier and civilians
were impacted by world war ll.
