bad FCS with a non-integral number of octets (Alignment Error).
The mapper inserts an additional information: the Client Signal Fail indication
Client Signal Fail is a bit set in case one of the following conditions is present on the
incoming signal (see Figure 2)
All these contributors to client signal fail are configurable through the SNMP agent of
the C600HC/C200 chassis.

A.1.2.3 Framer
The 10GbELAN or STM64/OC192 mapped client signals is inserted in an Ekinops
proprietary frame having a bit rate of 11.09 Gb/s.
BIP8 Monitoring parity is calculated over the entire frame and inserted in its corresponding
location in the outgoing signal.
The following information is provided to the controller on a per port basis:
AIS inserted (test purposes)
RDI inserted
Out of Band FEC encoding is performed and inserted in the Ekinops wrapper proprietary
frame. The line bit rate is 11.09 Gb/s.
OTX-VLH modules are Ekinops designed optical interfaces which present the same optical
connector, as well as same management information as an XFP.
OTX-VLH module provides 80 kms DWDM tunable interface. Details on optical
characteristics can be found in section 0.
As opposed to XFP, OTX-VLH units are integrated in the PM C1001HC(-ETR) and
therefore can not be removed separately.
The following alarms can be read from the Line Optical Interface:
Transmitter fault
Transmitter CDR not locked
Transmitter not ready
DDM information complying with document [8]
The following alarms can be read from the Line Optical Interface:
Loss of input signal
Receiver CDR not locked
Receiver not ready
DDM information complying with document [8]
A.1.3.2 De-Framer
Line Ekinops wrapped signal is received from the line optical interface
Line Ekinops wrapped signal frame alignment is performed.
BIP8 Section Monitoring parity calculation is computed. When an FEC decoder is
provided, BIP8 parity calculation is the result of errors counted after correction. In that
case a counter is provided for indicating the number of errors before correction.
The payload containing 10GbELAN or STM64/OC192 is extracted and passed to the de-
mapper/de-justification block.
The following information is provided to the controller:
Loss Of Frame on incoming signal
AIS received
RDI received
BIP8 Monitoring errors counting
A.1.3.3 De-Mapper
The de-mapper extracts STM64/OC192 or 10 GbELAN data from the proprietary mapping
frame.
The de-justification process allows recovering the STM64/OC192 or 10GbELAN data
stream mapped at the far end.
The de-mapper has an associated PLL for each mode (OC192/STM64 or 10GbELAN) for
regenerating the far end incoming clock frequency, based on the information received from
the de-justification mechanism.
Client Signal Fail information is also extracted and reported to the controller block (see
Figure 3).
Error counting is performed on the de-mapped signals:
10GbE LAN: MAC frames FCS errors counting
OC192/STM64: B1 errors counting
And the result is reported to the controller block.
Under failure conditions, an output client AIS (CAIS) signal is inserted on the outgoing
client port.
The alarms leading to assertion of client AIS are:
Loss of optical input signal
Loss of Frame Ekinops wrapper input.
AIS received on the Ekinops wrapper input.
Incoming CSF detected on de-mapped client channel
De-justification buffer overflow
The client AIS signal when asserted shuts down the client optical output.
The CAIS mechanism is described in Figure 4.
The following information is received from the control block:

When the client port is Out of Service, an Out of Service information is sent over the line
interface to inform the far end client port that the local client port is Out of Service. So each
client port provides the following additional information:
1. Local OS: The local client port is Out of Service
2. Distant OS: The far end client port is Out of Service.
When the client port is In Service, all the disabled features previously named are enabled
again. The alarms are unmasked and the Out of Service information is not sent anymore
over the line interface.
Linked to the Out of Service state, the line port has the following additional information:
7. Local OS: The local line port is Out of Service.
When the line port is In Service, all the disabled features previously named are enabled
again and the alarms are unmasked.
A.1.7.3 PM C1001HC(-ETR)
A command is accessible to set the complete PM C1001HC(-ETR) Out of Service. In that
case, all the client ports and the line port are set Out of Service as described in sections
A.1.7.1 and A.1.7.2.

This saves the configuration of the module as user configuration in the flash
memory.
-Restart the module using a cold reset or by powering down/up to apply the
configuration modification. Reset information can be found in the Software
management section.
Note
At that point, user configuration becomes the start-up configuration
of the PM.

B.3 Monitoring
B.3.1 Counters
There are a number of counters available to assist in the gathering of statistics.
Associated with each counter are an overload bit and an error bit.
The overload bit is set to “on” in the event of an overload of the counter and the
error bit is set to “on” in the event of an overload or error detected in a lower level.
If either is set (to “on”) the associated counter value is invalid. It is therefore
necessary that a method of polling is put in place at the manager in order to
manage the various counters efficiently.
In the event of the counter value becoming invalid, through overload or error,
control over the counters can be achieved with the objects:
pm1001lhCntCountersReset
Setting this object to “on” resets and restarts the counters.
pm1001lhCntCountersStop
Setting this object to “on” stops the counters.
Location: ...\ekinops\modulePm1001lh\pm1001lhcounters\
The following table gives the time to overload (in seconds) of the counters.
A full description of the available counters can be found in Appendix B.

pm1001lhCntdwTimCntValuePortn
Port downstream timer counter: This is the timing counter dedicated to the downstream access counters. It is
incremented every 121.9214 us
Associated with each counter are an overload bit and an error bit.
In the event of the counter value becoming invalid, through overload or error,
control over the counters can be achieved with the objects:
pm1001lhMonCountersReset
Setting this object to “on” resets and restarts the counters.
pm1001lhMonCountersStop
Setting this object to “on” stops the counters.
The following table gives the time to overload (in seconds) of the counters.

B.3.4 Measures
In order to manage the various measurements available a polling mechanism is
required, thereby allowing the uploading of several physical parameters such as
optical transceiver temperature, optical input power, etc. provided by the DDM.
The DDM or Digital Diagnostic Monitoring in the SFP+ and OTX-VLH provides real-
time monitoring of voltage and temperature readings of each optical component,
together with thresholds and alarms.
B.3.4.1 Temperature
The object:
pm1001lhMesrclientModTempMeas,
Location:..\ekinops\modulePm1001lh\pm1001lhmeasures\pm1001lh8MesrClient\
This object gives the temperature value of the SFP+ plugged into client port, read
from the DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) (Unit = °C).
The following formula must be applied to the returned value in order to obtain the
actual temperature:
T (°C) = AV/256
For example:
The object pm1001lhMesrclientModTempMeas outputs the following:
B.3.4.2 Bias
The object:
pm1001lhMesrclientBiasCurrentMeas,
Location:..\ekinops\modulePm1001lh\pm1001lhmeasures\pm1001lh8MesrClient\
This object gives the bias value of the SFP+ plugged into client port, read from the
DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) (Unit = mA).
The following formula must be applied to the returned value in order to obtain the
bias:
Bias(mA) = AV/500
For example:
The object pm1001lhMesrclientBiasCurrentMeas outputs the following:
Location:..\ekinops\modulePm1001lh\pm1001lhmeasures\pm1001lh8MesrClient\
This article gives the transmit power value of the SFP+ plugged into client port, read
from the DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) (Unit = dBm).
The actual Transmit Power in dBm or mW can be obtained by applying the following
formula to the returned value:
Tx_Pwr(mW) = AV/10000
Tx_Pwr(dBm) = 10xlog(AV/10000)
Location:..\ekinops\modulePm1001lh\pm1001lhmeasures\pm1001lh8MesrClient\
This article gives the receive power value of the SFP+ plugged into client port, read
from the DDM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) (Unit = dBm).
The actual Receive Power in dBm or mW can be obtained by applying the following
formula to the returned value:
Rx_Pwr(mW) = AV/10000
Rx_Pwr(dBm) = 10xlog(AV/10000)
For example:
The object pm1001lhMesrclientRxPowerMeas outputs the following:
1: pm1001lhMesrlientTxPowerMeas.0 (gauge) 30
